It has been a while
since i saw the scarecrow
at the broken cemetary gates
ringing a bell to summon
the china dolls with
coins as eyes from
the porcelain wishing wells.
They marched clockwise
baptised the moon out
from the silk skies
bribed me for truths and lies
about the human race.
They spoke darkly about
a man with blood, scars
and a beautiful face
who would return with a case
full of thorned crowns.

Another great poem-their all so dark and gothic-I always feel that I've gotten lost in Flannery O'Connor country when I read your poems (that is supposed to be a compliment, so I hope it sounds like one! :))

Whipsawed me!

Flannery O'Conner, yes, but also reminds me of some of the amazing visions of Marquez in One Hundred Years of Solitude.

Interesting-yes, whitman, I agree-your poetry IS full of magical realism.
