Is the Barnes and Noble edition of Les Misrables really this bad?

It's an excellent story, make no mistake of it however I suggest you spending a little more money on the same story from a different publisher. Besides the fact that they remove certain sections from the book a the very end of the story right at it concludes it cuts off. It just ends while one of the main character is speaking. I had to go to my local library to finish my story. Excellent story truly a classic, just bad publishing.

MisterLit,

I read the Signet Classics edition of Les Miserables, and all the editor did there was move Hugo's nun chapter to the appendix. While the B&N pocket book edition of Hunchback is decent, I would be careful with their abridged issues, as I was extremely unhappy with how they butchered Dumas.

If you want LM, check Signet, Penguin, or Oxford editions; they seem to wisely mediate between originalism and a contemporary reader's patience.
