ipod engraving

I'm on the verge of buying a new 3rd gen. ipod nano (PRODUCT) RED.

Apparently you can get a laser engraving for free, and I haven't the slightest clue what to put on it.

Any ideas?

What exactly is engraving on an ipod? On the screen? What's it for? I haven't heard of it. I must say I love my ipod. It's the greatest invention ever. :D
