I wanted to start this thread yesterday, but I wasn't sure if she was really back, cuz it's been a while since she came regularly to the forum. Well, I for one missed seeing her, and it sure wasn't the same without her around :D
So anyways, this is just a thread to simply say:

Welcome back, Janine!!

Welcome back Janine. You better protect this new computer with surge protector upon surge protector. Lightning does strike in the same place twice!

(That is what happened to the first computer, right?)

Your computer broke? Sounds familiar... Welcome back, Janine.

Oh, thank you my good friends, all of you!!! You are the best ever!

:) Special thanks to Nossa for starting this thread; how thoughtful and your words mean so much to me.....

I didn't know I was so missed around here, but I have been assured now that I have been and so I am sure I will be here as a 'life' member.:)

Thanks to some very thoughtful and generous people; you know who you are ;) I am back online with my new PC and I love it! I hope to start a blog soon, (although, I am not sure how to go about that as yet, but have some good instructions copied from this site). Anyway, when I do I will more formally thank those who helped me to get back online with my new PC.

Virgil, maybe you can give me some pointers, I know you are good at blogging, so I can post that tonight or tomorrow. As soon as I have my blog underway, I hope you all will visit it. I want to dedicate it to my love and joy, my new grand-daughter, Brooke.

Quark, it was not a lightening strike that killed my old computer. It had indeed been hit by lightening before and actually survived, strange, isn't it ? Only my broadband modem was blown out and would not function; then I was offline for weeks waiting for a new one to arrive. I guess the modem took the brunt of the surge, that earlier time. You can be assured after that dire event, I am super careful. I always unplug in a thunderstorm or at the first sign of one in sky, even though I have a good surge protector connected; I even check weather reports and forcasts, before I go anywhere, to see if I need to unplug. This time, I think what did my old computer in was the mistake I made by downloading the Explorer 7 update, because since that day the whole thing started to malfunction until Windows just plan shut down; I found out now that that version requires more RAM than my poor old unit had to offer. I still do have hopes of getting the file off my HD by a tech person; I could see them, but could not get them saved while the computer was barely running.

Be assured I also just made my system backup disks. Those of you with new computers - this is vital to do. They used to provide them free with a new PC, but they got cheap now and you have to do it all yourself. I am happy to report that burning the DVD's went smoothly; now I feel so much more secure.

Now, I can really post often and much faster than before - watch out V, I just might catch up to your post count!;)

Pensive, I have missed out little IM chats, and your bluebird; likewise I missed our chats, too,Downing. D, thanks for telling me that Vista was easy and I would like it; so far I really do; but I have to learn a lot more about it. I guess the big complaint people have about it is due to not wanting to try something new. I find it a challenge and the graphics are so pretty.

Baz, did yours break down, too? If so I am so sorry.

Eyemaker, how have you been; still drawing those eyes?

Pussnboots, very funny...hahaah...you were one of the first to know....

So I guess now it is on with the short stories, and a Lawrence novel for Manolia. Now I must stop stalling and read my new copy of "The Rainbow" - it is gathering dust:( , M. I did actually read about 20 pages of it, prior to the death of my old PC and then I got too busy to continue for now. I hope we can pick a new story soon in the L thread, say for Sept. I have a few I read, a couple of months back, that I have in-mind. We are just starting a new Chekhov story -yeah! I am so happy to be back...I missed you all so much!!!:D See you all around here at various locations.

Thanks again my great friends!:thumbs_up LOVE you all! ~ Janine

Thanks Niamh, I sure did miss everyone, although I stopped in briefly, now and then, while using my library or my friend's computer, so you all were not far from my mind. A day without Lit Net was like a day without sunshine!

I see you had similar problems as I had - at about the same time! Welcome back, then, Janine. (And you're right about the sunshine!)

Niamh, yes, I think it all the time. I felt quite gray without the computer to go to...major withdrawal set in at first. It is like my 'sunny' window to the world and especially this site, of course. It is so good to be back!

Wish am not late. Welcome back, Janine!

Never too late, Muhsin, thanks!
