HUMOR?
What makes us laugh,
or twitter-pate,
what makes our funny-bones
vibrate?
What causes glee,
what brings mirth on...
A ribald joke,
a nonsense song?
Is it someone
who can play the fool,
that makes a situation,
risible!?!
Slapsticker, straight man,
burlesque clown,
would often bring
their houses Down!
The double entendre,
the wink, the nudge,
could bring on laughter,
in a flood!
Lots of schtick
old timers knew,
to churn a bellylaugh,
or two!
But, what is it,
in all that schmeer,
that makes a grin.
or laugh appear?
Darn! We are right back to
the same old theme,
how do they get
our bells to ring?
For, what is funny
to Mr Fat.
Might just fall flat,
for Mrs Lean!
Students have tried
for their professorships,
by making a thesis,
out of it!
But, as soon as one
starts to analyze.
All mirth, out
of the window flies!
As that, causing one man's
hysterical, tee!..hee!..hee!
may not be another man's,
cup of tea!
So, the original question
still remains.
Until someone can,
with reason explain.
What it is,
that laughter starts,
and breaks It down,
into its component parts.
Lays them out,
for all to see,
in a book called:
"Humor?"
"Just ask me!".
