I've just recently acquired a record player again, and subsequently bought many LP's from charity shops, one of which was the album Discipline by King Crimson that I used to possess many years ago when it first came out. I was surprised when I listened to it, to find how good it still is. Tracks from the album keep playing in my head, especially Frame by Frame and Matte Kudesai. This prompted me to search on the web for KC, and amazingly I find that Fripp and friends are still together playing music after all these years.

Anyway, I'm starting this thread to see whether anyone like's King Crimson, knows any of their more recent stuff and can recommend any albums.

Anyone out there know what I'm going on about and why I think they are still great?

Where can I found a charity shops in my country which sells records like King Crimson or books like Catch 22 :bawling:

When I started to listen to prog rock, I digged the bands like Pink Floyd (which now is my all time fav) and ELP. And one day a man recommended me to listen to other bands like Crimson and YES. Most of of Crimson's fans agrees that Works Vol 1 album is the finest album. It captures the talents of everyone they said. But ''In The Court Of The Crimson King'' is said to be the classic one and one of the finest achievments in prog rock history. There's also "Cirkus", which also include some of the stuffs which happened in the band members' lives. I don't know, maybe "Elektrik" is their latest CD (released in 2003).

And IMO, why this band still worth listening is cause this band covers various kinds of sounds and style in rock, which are best when they're played live.

Den & SubT:

Thanks guys.

I'll check some of your recommendations out. I searched on Amazon and saw they had a number of recent CD's.

Den, you saw em live a coupla years ago? I'm envious! Just hope they're playing a London venue soon. My partner saw them live around the time of Discipline (way before I knew her) and was blown away by the bass player (was it Levin?)

Koa: I'd recommend you listen to Discipline, The Court of the Crimson King and Three of a Perfect Pair - they're the only ones I had and they were great!

Den and AP, if you both enjoy King Crimson, do check out ELP (Emerson, Lake, and Palmer) :thumbs_up

Yeah, thanks SubT, I checked them out many years ago. Keith Emerson is a top pianist and keyboard player, but they got a bit too full of themselves if I recall correctly. Still, I Believe in Father Christmas (?) is still one of the best xmas songs around. Karn Evil 9 was my fave track of theirs. But I also liked stuff like Lucky Man, Closer to Believing and Still You Turn Me On.
