Tell me quickly.
Who shall be constrained to write only in verse?
Poets? No.
I say
Whoever can enchain
A chill wind after a warm day,
Or a dog's cry across an empty valley,
Lock them up.
Never let them out.
Give them
Paper,
Pen,
Inspiration.
Both give and take their freedom
So that they may be able to give common beauty
To our common souls.
