It is believed that the Earth would be a disaster after 100 more years.Poeple will be in a pandemonium, for the Earth would be boiling hot, this is obvious. The water will rise as icebergs are melted, causing all the land on Earth to dissapear. No human beings and other living things will survive.
We cannot alter the Earth to be normal anymore, forever!
I am infuriated!
We must now make our life to a precious and invaluable one!
Furthermore,I conceive that we,humans, have erred so much.Even if we forgive divine, divine will ignore us and take us to hell.Hell is the doom place. We are doom, and there's no scope to escape,literally.Sigh.Let's take our lives preciously, don't ever conceive to commit suicide or kill others or commit crimes.Just work hard now.
Seriously? "People will be in a pandemonium, for the Earth would be boiling hot, this is obvious"???
How is that obvious?
And if the glaciers melted I'm sure there would still be land. This is obvious. :p
You need to catch up on your homework. ;)

At last a reply,
Don't you feel that the Earth's temperature is being rised? This is obvious that the Earth would be boiling hot like hell in 100 years after.
Next,I had watched 'the day after tommorrow' movie and it influences me that maybe it is genuine. The scene of the land being flooded would happen in 100 years time.
And,well, emmm,I should catch up with my homework? What do you mean?I don't comprehend...

don't panic wilbur.
I suppose you're right in assuming that substantial parts of the polar caps will melt down, but even so, there will be plenty of land left. not even the fiercest environmentalists believe that all land will be flooded.
I'm not at all happy about the way things are going these days (global warming, wars, etc). but people have been predicting the end of the world since the dawn of civilization (or possibly even earlier ;) ) and it still hasn't happened... :)
I'm pretty sure the whole global warming thing will sort itself out once the major oil reserves are used up. after that, drilling will become very expensive, so only a minority will be able to afford oil-based fuels.... well, probably we'll manage to heat the planet up some more by using cellulosic fuels.. but anyway...
I'll be dead most likely in 100 years, and if not, be wishing for death. I don't see a problem.

Since believers would have already lost the ticket to heaven, what would be left to work for or be good for? To taste the fires of hell? :p
I say let's fight against each other for having ruined our beloved earth! Let's not forgive each other as God wouldn't forgive us. Let's think by the Godly perspective for once! Let's spread chaos and ruin each other.

I saw a movie in which spontaneous generation happens and the creatures that appear like the best to break humans' necks and there are so many of them that even human-beings can do little against them. Hmmmmmm those creatures can be there in a year or two. Or maybe in a week. Or can be even tomorrow or today. Just think about it, we are so ruined. *worried*

"the day after tomorrow" is nonsense.
I heard a lecture by my physical geography professor who does believe in climate change but said that the things that are shown in this movie are not physically possible. don't ask me about the details... it had to do with thermodynamics etc. but he said the kinds of blizzards and freezing and what not that you can see in this movie can definitely not happen on this planet.

thats a slight over exaggeration.
Geological evidance has shown that the Earth goes through periods of warms and cools, or rather Hots and colds. We are more likely to head to another Ice age than the sea to boil up again and release methane into the air. Many creatures evolved and survived the last major warming which was a few hundred million years ago during it think the Turassic( could have been the jurassic) period. The Crocodile for example. There have been many Ice ages since then and geological stratigraphy shows periods of slight warming before a major freeze. We are going through a slight warming.
The polution we have pumped into the athmosphere has slightly quickened the pace of the cycle, but it is nothing to worry about too much at present. We cant stop nature from taking its natural course now can we.
Though this is hardly a reliable source, at least take a look into this, and perhaps check out some of the references and external links (located at the very bottom):

Ha! I didn't know we agreed on this Niamh. :D You're not one of the apocalyptic ones!! :D :D Hey there mate. :) Though I still don't think there is enough evidence to conclue that the heat we have "pumped" into the atmosphere has caused the one degree increase in temperature. In fact I'm not sure there is evidence for a one degree increase. I want to know what is the measurement error is. How come they never tell you? And how do they know what the exact temperature measurement of the earth from a hundred years ago? And what is that measurement error? How come they never tell you these important things.

This is really a great question and the concern you raised for the environmental issue is highly noteworthy. I really feel sorry for the lots or futrure of people that we spoiling or looting everything of this good earth in the name of development and economioc growth. Science has helped us to harness natural resources and indeed our living standards have been much better than our ancestors' yet our environmental conditions are degrading day by day and we reached a point that it is hard to get back all that we lost even if we put in more and more efforts.
Yet we need not disappoint my friend. The concern you have is realty noteworthy. I can not do anything alone or you can not do without support. Simply whining about it does not help us.
Yes we should initiate doing something, you and me together and of course many will follow us even from this forum. This is a noble, and not only that some worthiest job we can do as human beings and let us unite together. We can at the outset write massively on the environmental issue and involve more and more people in the discussion and of course this will help us to do something collectively.
Is not a better idea to start. For if we start we will come across many like minded people and most will agree with us for all want this beautiful planet to be really a cleaner, greener place to live in and to conserve every resource for posterity.
We love our posterity, fututre generations, and we must intimate some projects that ensure their futures.
Can there be a better cause than this in life?
Let us not whine about all that happened . We can reverse the course of his environment, you and me together and the rest follow suit.

It is believed that the Earth would be a disaster after 100 more years.Well... I will agree that we are treating our planet rather poorly, and that the situation is less than ideal, but we should definitely not abandon all hope. IN fact, we must never ever give up.
First of all, we can all do something, and so we should (there is a previous thread on the subject somewhere). Secondly, we really need to bring new technology forward with all possible haste. It could be argued that technology landed us in the current mess in the first place, but I don't necessarily believe that is true (it was more like misuse of it), and we certainly cannot get ourselves out of it without improving on what we have.

You must understand that there are various opinions on the issue of global warming, and various interpretations of the 'facts' you mention. Just as there are environmental activists (Al Gore comes first to my mind) who like to dramatize over it and who overly repeat that we are heading towards an inevitable catastrophy which is all our [humans] fault, there is another side of the coin, scientists who shed a different light onto the climate change issue.
My father being one of those from the "another side of the coin" (though he is professionally into some other things with science, but still remotely related to ecology), I grew up without the hysteria over climate change because I was presented an alternative view as well as that dictated by the school and media.
Somebody once defined intelligence as the "ability to entertain the idea without accepting it". You must first get idea to entertain, and always keep in mind that school and media give you only some ideas to entertain, not all and often not the ones of the 'opponents'; but more are needed for broad context for entertaining even one of them properly. Instead of panicking, if you are seriously worried over it, equipen yourself with scientific papers and scientific 'literacy' needed to understand them. It is way more productive, and it might as well calm you down a bit. Perhaps you form a different opinion. Perhaps you do not, but then you will have clearer views of what can be done, whom can you contact if you are interested, etc. Anything is better than blind panic.

I agree on this matter, but i am still a big greenie! Virg! Sorry! :p I believe we should look after the planet we live on. We have done a lot of damage to it.
I see you mention the one degree increase...i havent read anything about this, but from all the books on Geology i have read and studied in my own time (not to mention the little bit i did in college) all it took i the past to cause havoc was apparently a two degree increase. Where talking the seas and oceans boiling and Methane gases that are trapped in the earth being released and posioning the air and killing off most living species, both flora and fauna, on the planet. But that happened over a long period of time, not like two days. before people start thinking that the one degree thing is the sun, and go, oh we have been have freak high temps this summer, its not its the temp radiating from the planet itself. a slight raise in the earth temperature can cause all kinds of things like ,melting ice caps, earthquakes, which can then in turn cause sunamis etc. not good.
not sure what it was one hundred yars ago but it wasnt as warm and thats for sure. :)
