I guess I'm still new here enough to post this belated intro:

Hi LNF!

I'm a 22 year old male (23 late this month). I play online poker professionally (not even close to as glamorous as it looks on TV) and sell crap I find good deals on on eBay. I was born, raised, and still live in in the land of cows and twisters, USA (that should narrow it down sufficiently). My moniker comes from a graphic novel series by Neil Gaiman called "The Sandman" where the titular character is Dream, aka Morpheus (and a lot of other names depending on the culture).

My main interests are the arts; films, music, anime, and of course, literature and poetry. My tastes on those fronts are extremely varied, and if anyone cares to know about them they can ask. As for Literature and Poetry I'm rather new. What got me interested were two comics actually; one by Alan Moore called Watchmen, and the other is my namesake. Since then I've found Tolstoy, Dickens, and Milton, and plan on finding much more in the near future. I also dabble in philosophy and psychology (but two other areas I need to explore further). I'm also an audiophile, and have a headphone system that's worth more than half of what the house it's kept in is worth.

Saving the best for last, I'm extremely passionate (or obsessed, depending on who you ask) with an anime series and film called Neon Genesis Evangelion / The End of Evangelion. To this date it's been the most profound artistic experience I've encountered.

Ok, I think that's enough for now. :)

That's quite the title you've got there...:p

Only 40 posts...you're not too late! Welcome to Litnet; I am sure we are all happy to have you. :)

Do you live in...Kansas? Oklahoma? Hmm...I need to brush up on my US geography.

Whose poetry do you primarily appreciate? Also, do you draw some of your own anime in addition to enjoying others'?

Welcome to the forums. When I read the title of this thread I had to think of Horribilicribifax Teutsch by A. Gryphius, do you know this play? :D

Whose poetry do you primarily appreciate? Also, do you draw some of your own anime in addition to enjoying others'?I just started with literature and poetry, but from what little I've read I like the greats like Milton and Shakespeare, I also love surrealism like that of Breton (even though I need to read more). I plan on branching out soon to the classics like Homer, Dante, Virgil, etc.

I wish I had the talent to draw anime, but I sadly don't, so I'll stick to enjoying the art of others.

Welcome to the forums.Thanks you!

Just started?? Well, I guess it's never too late. ;) Do you go to school? The great authors is an excellent place to start. This forum is also an excellent place for recommendations, so I'm sure you'll never run out of fascinating things to read. :)

I haven't any talent, either, but I do find anime quite fun to draw.

You're in the right neighborhood. ;)

Texas?

I've been reading consistently since I was four, but never really trying to read the best in world literature. I don't go to school, but I'm always learning anyway. I already have a list of authors and books 100 miles long to check out, so I don't think I'll ever have to worry about running out of things to read.

Texas? You're in the right neighborhood (that's as close as you're going to get). ;)

Never heard of it. Should I have?

It's not a must-read, but it is a very enjoyable baroque comedy. But you probably want to cover your big reading gaps first before you delve into obscurity, right?

Thanks to Virgil.

But you probably want to cover your big reading gaps first before you delve into obscurity, right?Probably. Though if I do with literature like I've done with the other arts I imagine I'll take some obscure, hidden roads along the way. I have a bad habit of not sticking to the main road...
