Welcome welkin kin, your spread majestic
Your dusky guise that gazes down divine
Anthems to thee I warmly croon and sing
Wrapped in your lazy embrace do I find
Myself content to float on Ariel’s wing
Colors subfusc but drear do not I feel
Your pensive atmosphere to which I kneel
Carry me far away from ticking time
To palaces with riches far from mine
And to thee will I give this humble rhyme
And praise thine mystic powers line by line
What meaning does this have, this restless thing
That drives men to divulge their souls that ring?
Lines that stray to myth return domestic

*In case anyone cares my rhyme scheme for both is: abcbcdd ebebcca - with the A lines in trochaic pentameter and the rest in iambic.*

In the Nightside Eclipse
(A Sonnet Inspired by the album title ‘In the Nightside Eclipse' by Emperor)

*Here's a companion piece to Anthems. For some reason I become a hardcore classicist when I write sonnets!*

See the nightside landscape sway hypnotic’lly.
The lunar goddess takes on her command,
Her silver light calls on the wind that chills,
The daylight dies and falls at Luna’s hand,
As the nocturnal spirits roam the hills.
Be wary when you walk this nightly way
For fiends will flock that hide away from day.
The wizards’ wild magics are about
And through the wicked woods where they doth roam
Casting their spells that confiscate all doubt
They stalk the innocent who’re far from home.
The darkness claims the day and motion stills,
Eclipses light as Morpheus works his skills.
Sleepily I sink to dream methodic’lly.
