Thinking of picking this one up. From what I understand, it's 10 of R. Zelazny's novels situated in the Amber universe, and they all correlate together. It's a long read, about 1300 pages. Not particularly familiar with this authour, nor the fantasy genre, but I figured I'd try it out.

Is this a recommendable series? I don't want to get into such a long book and realize half way through that I've wasted my time (however, i don't mind a long read so long as it's satisfying).

I read the complete series they are much better than most fantasy series, but Zelazny had trouble finishing a story. The first five books make one complete novel, and the rest are well written and generally interesting, but the story was not completed. Zelazny's best book was Lord of Light, which I can reread yearly without losing anything.

For once, we're agreed. I don't recommend fantasy besides Dune and this series.
