Gone are those sweet chirpings by the birds,
Lost is the rousing scent of pancakes.
No warm rays shining through that window,
Fog absent from the bathroom mirror.
Not even dew rests upon fresh grass,
Yet so unexpected is my calm.

This is sad, but it is striking for the choices you made to relay your apparent loss, moving from nature to personal memories and feelings. Very moving.

I really like this, such a wonderful use of langauge. I thought the opening line was amazing, and it ended perfectly. With such vivid imagery that could be felt by all the senses
