Flora and Fauna.

Flora and Fauna
got married one day.
Then, on their honeymoon,
quick slipped away!

The site they had chosen
was not by the sea,
for Flora told Fauna
she got sea-sick you see!

Their perfect retreat..
the shade of a dell.
Wild primrose, the hawthorn,
oleander as well.

Oft times they paused,
sipped a draught from a stream
that burbled and laughed
at that bucolic scene!

Fauna told Flora
she was his delight,
sat by a firefly-fire,
'til well past midnight!

They lived happy together
for the rest of their days.
Each getting used to the others
peculiar, but endearing ways!

I think they were my neighbors once.

Very clever. Love the second verse!

I love your playfulness, the sense of a man in a playground he has created for himself! Not to take issue with Dr Firefangled, but I was especially charmed by the third verse...

Your craftsmanship in weaving poems in beautiful rhymes is absorbing.

These lighthearted throw togethers allow a free flow to take me where it pleases. I sometimes look at the results and say:

"Did I write that!:)

I must admit that I do have fun playing with words on occasion...

I also think that I turn to poetry to relieve stress. I get mad at the world and look for a reality where I can play by my own rules!
