Hello everyone!

Before I wasnt to keen on joining any kind of literature-related forums, but it seems I need some new 'inspiration' to make me start reading literature again. Lately I've just been too lazy to bother with them, so I perhaps if I immerse myself in the subject more, things might just start rolling again. I've always found it hard to just pick up a book and start reading - rather, I need a little incentive, such as an interesting article, a good quote or something of the like to get me going. I hope this will be a good place for such things.

My primary interest is philosophy; and although my heart in philosophy lies mostly with the postmodern, it seems with literature, it goes out to modernism. I have a great appreciation for Joyce, which is strange, since I never got past page 300 or so of Ulysses - I simply admire the boldness of the work. Among my favorite books are Wilde's Picture of Dorian Grey, Bronte's Wuthering Heights and Shelley's Frankenstein. I like ironic books, that convey a very particular feeling that is hard to describe... If there is no madness in either the narrative or one of the characters, a book is not interesting to me. I'm a sucker for dense prose, and can't stand a more 'simple' read, even though, when it comes down to it, I can rarely even finish a book that is to my liking. Stranger yet, I did put up with 1200 pages of utter mumbo-jumbo in Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged, but I have to admit, I read this on a holiday where I had to go with my parents and was bored stiff. I was about to snap after 50 pages of that Galt speech, though.

To save you of a 50 page speech of my own, I will now quit typing more senseless stuff.

I'll try to help you out, though I'm unsure of exactly how much assistance I can really be.
