So, Comrade Death,
what brings you here
this fine summer day?
You have to ask?
Just being civil, you know.
Trying to keep things light...
Why not go straight
to the whining, the arguments,
the attempts at bribery...
I’d prefer to go with a little dignity..
Yes, that’s one of the options.
One of them? What’s–
Hollywood.
Hollywood?
Yes, your about-to-be-bereft children
gathered around you, sobbing,
along with the one or maybe two people
who really cared for you, or
pounding it to the usual
one or two very pneumatic babes!

Jerry?

Oh my God! I didn't not expect you to be calling me SO SOON! And of course I never expected you to come in this guise!

Some very well done tough choices. Loved pneumatic babes! I guess we can take that several ways, all of which are hilarious.

If it is Ampoule who greets you, surely it is a sign you've made it through the pearly gates.

Funny reply, Jerry. You are definitely in high gear lately.

Jerry, I hope this was poetic inspirition and not any feeling you may be having about yourself. If you need any cheering let me say I do enjoy your poetry. Your Snapshot thread is one of best. :) :)

This is very kind of you, Virge, and if I did need cheering this would have done it, but although I'm of an age where one must certainly think of death from time to time, that poem was meant as a bit of gallows humour.

Janus is the two faced god.
The many faces of Death I visualize as being closer to a compound eye!

I think that the discussor narrowly held his own...high praise when you consider who the party of the second part is!:(

Many thanks for this, Goldenrod. I once had the devil of a time with alternate approaches to a similar theme. Do you have a preference for one or the other:

Death is the laughing boy
in the pantry,
waiting

vs

Death is the lonely boy
in the back room,
pining
