Today I got a call from my mom. It seems that my brother has to do some community service for a speeding ticket he got. If he does the community service, the ticket won't go on his record and he can avoid higher insurance premiums. I wasn't really paying attention - all I knew was that I had to take him to it.
Well, he has until Friday to do this, and he missed his chance today. The food distribution was already in progress and apparently, he has to have someone hold his hand through this community service.
I think he pays his own insurance, so I am not sure why he is so relunctant to go do this. He has to drive, since the school he attends is all the way across town and my parents wouldn't have time to drive him to school and get to work on time unless they left just after dawn.
I am unsure why we're waiting until the last minute, but every community service idea I have come up with involves "training." Like, if he were to go work at the animal shelter scooping poop, he has to go to training class and they are not having any training classes this week. Then there is a volunteer food distribution on Friday at Church, but this has to be done and delivered to the court on Friday.
Anyone have any last minute community service ideas? Should I call Salvation Army or Goodwill industries and see if we could sort clothes or something? Or is there a training session for that?
