Summer stole my life
Heady nights that turned into regretful mornings
Delirious announcements of infidelity
To my husband.
The sun burned on me
In a way like no one else
Whilst they revelled in the hot weather
I sank to the shade, contemplating the autumn
The pain would end then:
I would not have to hear the cheers
Of everyone else at their parties
Against the tears of my own.
That hot weather, so hot
The clothes that stuck to my back
I, an enstranged wife
A lifetime away from my husband
Autumn shall be my salvation
Rays will not be cruelly cast
On a skin so pale as mine
Summer has inflicted all that Summer can
Heady nights that turned into regretful mornings
Delirious announcements of infidelity
To my husband.
The sun burned on me
In a way like no one else
Whilst they revelled in the hot weather
I sank to the shade, contemplating the autumn
The pain would end then:
I would not have to hear the cheers
Of everyone else at their parties
Against the tears of my own.
That hot weather, so hot
The clothes that stuck to my back
I, an enstranged wife
A lifetime away from my husband
Autumn shall be my salvation
Rays will not be cruelly cast
On a skin so pale as mine
Summer has inflicted all that Summer can
