View Full Version : The rain and the asphalt

The rain crashed into the asphalt
with a rhythmic splattering sound
like the droplets, when they lash out
on a tin hut, make staccato drumbeats.
The rain-bathed asphalt in the night
wears a glistening attire and appears
with the dazzling streetlights
like a pretty lady wearing jeweleries.

Dibyendra, I like this very much. Your poetry has become more compact lately. I love this new style.

This is indeed very good! I especially love the way you managed to make a poem of rain on the asphalt, you had the eye for this.

I'm puzzled as to why you posted this twice, but it is visceral and very vivid.

It reminds me of movies set at night. The streets always look wet, as if it had just rained.

Since you saw that he posted it twice, why did you reply here instead of following the replies on the other thread? :p

I have a Florida Room roof that tells me the mood of the rain...almost as well a your vignette.

Wow, Dibby! You speak of the rain as if it were alive and make the poem come alive! :thumbs_up
