Socks!!

Okay well.... For no apparent reason I was thinking of socks, and my socks, and perhaps what socks you guys wear? As most of you know, I'm a complete knee-high sock addict!! :D

So, thus there is a poll - and it is a multiple choice one!!

What are your favourite types of socks? Unless you don't like to wear socks?
What types of patterns or colours do you like on your socks??

Lets talk about socks!! :D

Personally, one of my favourites is this pair I got recently, with BRIGHT tape cassetts over them!! :D

All my socks are Sunday socks - ie holey (Ok I know bad joke). I have very plain socks - either all white or all black. With the exception of my lucky Rangers socks which I have had for the last 10 years, unfortunately they seem to be losing their magic.

When I'm home I usually wear white athletic (is that what they're called?) socks. I'm usually in sneakers then. When I dress for work or dressy for going out, I have dress socks of various colors and types to roughly match my clothes.

I have motly knee socks, and mostly solid black ones, although I also have 'happy socks' which are bright coloured stripy ones ( usually hot pink or turquoise and something , for days when I need cheering up)
and actually I did buy 7 pairs of ankle socks for coming away, black again but they are made of bamboo strangly, very comfortable. But I nevre wera socks if I dont HAVE to, and I only have to when Im wearing shoes to go out.
Did Im mention the holy zipper socks? humm well originally they were happy ankle socks the have this strange zip pattern on them, but Ive had them over 8 years and they have barly any sock left in them- no toes or heel - and I tend to wear them in the winter if Ive woken myself up with freezing feet in the middle of the night. You know I think my mum might have finally had her way and thrown them out back in march...

I wear white socks and ankle socks when I go out. But in winter mostly knee socks again which. But I have colorful white and pink and white and blue socks with different shapes of course when I wear shoes that the colorful socks cannot be seen :D and never wear them at home!

yeah - I saw that after I typed it and went back to edit it. Hookers was the first thing that came to my mind, but I think I was thinking of thigh high boots, because it occurred to me that I've actually worn thigh high stockings before - they're actually better than stupid old hose. So I would be calling myself a hooker also.

Just for the record - I was thinking of thigh high boots - early morning brain fart - you'll have to overlook me once again.

yeah, hose are like tights, but in my mind, tights are thicker - hose are sheer usually and run more easily than tights. But whatever you wanna call them, hose or tights - they are EVIL and I HATE them and they deserve many flares. :flare: :flare: :flare: I've worn the thigh high stockings and they had these major elastic band things to keep them from falling down. Of course, the function I wore them too only lasted a few hours so I didn't have the falling down problem (but let me tell you about the marks those band things left behind - uggh). But I could see how it could happen. I don't wear the things much, that's for sure.

Good to know :lol: You're lucky being a guy...we were forced to wear them at school in WINTER, can you believe. There we were in our uniforms, tights, and icy leather shoes looking at snow on the surrounding mountains wondering what we sinned in our previous lives that deserved such punishment :D

I can't believe I forgot toe socks!! I used to have a best friend who wore them all the time... I never could stand the things though!! :lol:

I spose I should have also included odd socks!! I'm the worst with that :D. The only time I wear matching socks is for school or if they're knee high (sometimes). Other times, I just grab 2 socks and go! Sometimes 4 socks, if the knee high pair have holes in them then I wear the ankle socks over them :p.

And I really want a pair of those plastic see-through converse!!!

But most of the fun is in wearing odd socks, now my sister and her friends occasionall wear odd converse, and let me tell you that is an odd look.
But it suits them, and who am I to say anything I alter prom type dresses so I can have big 'poofy' skirts as the youngest sister calls them- I just love the rustling sound of big skirts it makes me happy

socks are great. I chose lots of different ones. I like colorful socks, even though then they don't match my clothes.

I can never, ever get thigh-high or knee-high socks to stay up, ever. Unless they're under boots.

My feet are always freezing, unless it's very warm out. So socks are definitely good. Especially furry socks in winter. :)

I usually don't wear "middle size" socks - I wear either ankle socks, either thigh-high, and own them few that are in-between. I'm especially fond of stripey socks, too, which make my mother roll her eyes when she sees me wearing them (my mother is one of those overly elegant creatures who consider socks, jeans and sneakers to be not enough "lady-like" :rolleyes:).

I usually wear mismatched socks - first, it is so damn hard to find socks that match, second, why throw a perfectly good sock away just because you have lost or destroyed its partner and third, I find it quite aesthetic - especially a white sock on one foot and a black sock on another - it creates quite an interesting asymmetry when all my other clothes are symmetrical, a somewhat disturbed harlequin look.
Right now, due to pure chance, I am wearing matching socks, but it won't last for long.

Yay, for mothers and people like that. :thumbs_up I don't neessarilly think jeans and sneakers are bad (except for an professional office work place) but I can't stand the sloppy, grungy look. Don't kids wash and dress anymore. :p

I also DESPISE pantyhose!!!!! If I have to wear pantyhose I buy them a size bigger so its not too bad having to put them on.

Don't usually wear them anywhere, leaving school aside as they (plain white socks) are included in our school uniform. Gloves and socks are stuff which for some reason (or maybe no reason if you are ready to believe behind everything, there is not a reason) make me feel over-loaded and I try to avoid them as much as I can. And anyway, it's never really that cold here that I start feeling as if I can't live without socks...

Well... there is those things that are crossed between socks and shoes. The bottom half is like a shoe and then the top half is like a knee high sock. I do love my knee high socks but I hate those things! :lol:

My favorite socks ever are the ones my boyfriend gave me. He's 6' 4" and I'm 5' 1" so you can imagine what they look like on me. (They are knee socks on me.) I custom embroidered, them, too. They are nice and cozy to wear to bed.

Plastic Converse sounds really cool! I haven't seen a pair around here yet, though. Maybe I'll ask a friend abroad to hunt a pair down for me, lol. That might get me into colored socks.
Right now, though, I prefer white ankle socks even in the cold.

Once, though, I wore stripey knee socks under pants. I got caught in the rain, so my shoes (canvas at the time) were soaked through and so were my socks! Needless to say it pulled my pants water-ward :)

I bought some more socks today :D but purely for practical reasons. It's winter here now and the only socks that keep my feet warm on really cold days are Chenille socks...so I got two more pairs.

No stripes though; they're not even knee-high's...how boring ;)
