I gaze out of the window
Upon a garden walled around
Dead bodies regimented
Beneath a covering of ground
How peaceful in the summer
To lie upon a bed of grass
To count the clouds in the sky
And track the swallows as they pass
But lazy hours of sunshine
Were squeezed into a winters day
The long warm sun of summer
Lies a thousand miles away
And as the foxes gather
For their early evening tryst
That summertime’s a lifetime
That was once lived, no longer is.
Such fine colours, warm feelings,
Only linger in winter mind.
I long for a life's return
When I can leave these dreams behind
Bury them in my body
Settle them in my memory
And live again in sunshine
In such a peaceful cemetery.

Yup. Had enough! Bring on the summer. Please.....please....can't I just skip January, February, March and most of April? Can't someone wake me up when its time to go out and play in the sunshine? I'm gonna find some nuts and hibernate!:)

Mind you, should a sky-belly full of snow tumble out of the firmament, I might just don a greatcoat and a pair of boots and build a snowman or snowwoman and terrorise people with missiles of well-compacted snowdust.:)

That is the problem, you see... In this country, you don't know where you are! Is it winter, is it summer, is it spring?? It is always the same;luke warm sun, clouds ready to appear out of nowhere andjoyless wind... If only one could know that after 3 months of snow and rain, it will be a hot summer...
*sighs*
Thanks for cheering me up, AP!:p

:D Have a great winter break Scheherazade. And whatever you do, keep telling stories!! and may your nights grow shorter and your days become long, blessed with the sun. ;)

This poem reminds us of Krafinna's "Suveuks" (Summer-door)
We'll try to translate (but don't tell her that We tried ;) ):
Summerdoor
A wreath of branches you are bearing;
leaves raining from the apple-tree;
kitty's paws on wet grass,
summer-door he seeks in night-time,
asks for sun and asks for care.
The road is full of secret wilt-paths
little cat, this winter passes;
the spring is coming, it comes already
but you, my little, just sleep now,
summersongs to you I'll make.
Here's the original:
Suveuks
okstest punut pärga kannad
lehti sajab õunapuult
kiska käpad märjal murul
suveust ta öiti otsib
nõuab päiksest nõuab hoolt
tee täis närbund salaradu
kiisuke see talv saab otsa
tuleb kevad tuleb juba
sina aga maga väike
sulle suvelaule loon
Nice poem, AP, btw.

I like the poem but I like winter more, I hate the summer.
the sun blinding me, to bright to light candles at night, having to work at an old folk home....I just love the winter and the cold weather!
but it is a very good poem!
