I strongly believe in God, being our creator, and leader. It has dawned upon me that, the cultural image of him has been diluted. This is a troubling thought. I see it acceptable to have fun with worship, in media, and icons, but the lack of respect directed behind that is unacceptable. I have come to the conclusion than there is several “versions” of what our lord is perceived as being.
God is a overwhelming leader, per say who is on all occasions looking out for you. Now this is there and it is not, because if he is helping you at some point the will have to be against someone else, and that just can not work. For instance when fans pray for victory in an athletic competition, this is insane since God would have to go against one of his own children. Bottom line he is looking out for us, but can not make someone more successful than another, that would not be fair.
Where he acts like a coach. If you do what your told, do not question him, you will play. If you mess up, you will get a scolding but it will pass. If you lash back, well bud you will be riding the pine. I can see this as a feasible possibility, but so long as it does not counteract helping another be more successful, with direct help from God.
A creator. God is always making new wonderful things, except he grows bored with each new creation so leaves it on hits’ own and starts something new. He has many universes, and followers, but it is not like he does not care, just he yearns for more. This is in my opinion, not true, God loves us, and wants to watch us.
One tough customer. This is where if you cross the line, just a bit, WHAM! Your in trouble now partner. This is not appropriate, he wants us to be happy, embrace and love. He would not make it so every time something less fortunate happens we are in trouble.
God loves loyal followers. This is where if you compliment him, say all the right things you are set. Sort of like a groupie and a rock band, so long as you play your cards right you are set for life. This is true and no, a genuine love is one thing, over doing it is not. I do not believe God will appreciate someone blindly following everything, just to impress him. It is good, to be proper and follow what is good, but stepping out of those boundaries, and being person is more important.
The teacher. This god will help you out when your in trouble, solve your problems, and make you feel better. The downside is once your done school, it is all your baby, no more help, you have the tools, not do it. This is a good version, but I think God is always there for you.
God is a counsellor. This God, is always there, he will help you at all times, but never interferes. He will offer his opinion and nothing more, It is up to you to decide what to do. This God will help anyone, of any background so long as they want him too. Yes, excellent version, I believe this one fills many of the requirements.
God our father. This is where he loves us, nurtures us, and is a role model. He hurts when we hurt, he is joyous when we succeed. He allows us to explore and learn, trying to develop our own boundaries. He just does not like it when his kids fight, it brings a lot of trouble for the children.
This is almost bang on in my books. You can not ask for anymore, nothing else fills the voids better, than this one.
Sadly as much as I may agree with some of these, we can not possibly imagine what he may be like. He is indefinable, our tiny brains, can not even begin to imagine what he could possibly be like. Every definition we can create is only a part of what makes up the lord. See it may not be our lack of thinking power, just the way we try to use words. We cannot relate God to common objects, he is everything! The only thing we can use to describe him is infinitely everything.
What I can tell you is he is three very important things.
Creator: The first bit of the bible goes into detail of how God created everything and all. Even now he is making new wife, love, and friendship. We are preservers of the world God has made. We dropped the ball there some what, but there still is hope. He knows we make mistakes, and as long as they are fixed, we are all good.
Redeemer: Jesus brought messages that God loves us. We again abused this by raping our averment of resources, being selfish, and obese cure. Yet like stated earlier we can be forgiven. These are all sins. A Sin is not just smoking and gambling, it is anything harmful to yourself our others. We all bear an incredible amount of them, just we all have to own up to them, and accept what we have done.
Sustainers: This means he is a very good friend. Someone too look out for us, and help us when we are down. God, helps keep the world a float and without, his presence we are in serious danger. All we need to do, is spend time with God, and have a reciprocal relationship. To gain from God both of you will have to benefit, not just one.
This is all that I see the lord as being and more. There is not a way we can fully comprehend what, our lord truly is, only a fuzzy image on what he is, and what he possibly could be. It is a rough subject to understand, but trust and faith will guide you through.
