Schwinny, you were supposed to be my bicycle.
Now I don't ask for anything special. No dark Harley diva, no savior, femme fatale
to ride off with me into the sunset.
But I thought we were on the same road together.
So don't go telling me life got too complicated. You've got one ****ing gear.
Don't go telling me the road got too bumpy.
You went blind bonzai bat**** over black tar ****ing pavement.
You just...let go. Threw away your chain of reasoning faster than I could brace for impact.
(Ugggh...Am I bleeding?? Yeah, I'm bleeding)
And the worst part is, I still need you.
Because work is 37 blocks away.
And I got to be there in 16 minutes.
And the bus is really unreliable.
So we ride again, but I got all ten fingers and toes crossed, two by two,
and point in fact, riding down Guadalupe with forked philanges gets really hairy.
But your suicidal tendencies ****ing scare me.
You thirst for first degree burns and flayed skin,
and my patience runs tiretrack thin.
Think I'll roll my dice with a Segway.
She'd be a quaint, play it safe kinda girl.
The kind my folk would invite to dinner..
"Son, we knew you'd land a keeper. That's my boy!"
But I know that in two months tops,
I'd miss your fiery imbalanced breath.
I'd yearn for your bipolar 180 turns,
that make my heart skip that terrible, unforseen beat.
So yeah. I'll give it one more shot.
But just tell me you'll stick around at least a little longer.
It's storming outside, and we both got a few blocks to go.

The following is a Public Service Announcement to all Austin bicycle police.
To protect and to serve does NOT necessarily mean protecting our rights by serving up a fresh can.
I beckon you, look inward. I'd say your frustration lies in the shorts.
You secretly stumble upon your big bad blue brethren...
Snickering,
Ruthlessly bickering over whether
you need a helping hand
into those skimpy camp counselor waistbands.
They cynically dress you like well-armed clowns, then ship you downtown,
to deal with the meddlers and peddlers
of the dank city night.
You tap your Adidas anxiously,
biding time impatiently,
for the prime crime scene to pounce.
I had my doubts.
Thought you were no match for your Cruiser carrying compatriots.
But when I saw you roar your Huffy, huffing and heaving in red hot pursuit,
dive down upon an unsuspecting victim
as God upon her prey,
Let me just say...
you are the UFC of the APD.
But before you brag
of befalling your brazen foe,
you ought to know...
I was just running to make the late night showing at the Alamo.
As for those shamefully short shorts,
*sigh* Yeah. They really gotta go.

When you ask me, "so what's your poetry?"
and you're really wondering....
so what quality human being you supposed to be?
And I don't have an answer.
Like I'm a pro pitcher whose hand's hurt.
Parapalegic could've been a dancer.
But me, you see, I want to be
a word necromancer.
Who can
Weave a piece that parts the seas and cures cancer.
But no.
Alas, I'm just a white jew boy.
Whiter than your knuckles when Fran Drescher speaks.
Cuz being here, in this moment, I feel like...
Smalls from the Sandlot.
You know the one...
Freckly eyed fourteen year old, freaking, frantically fretting over fickle fragile friendships.
But he can't play ball!
He just stands out in the outfield,
you're killing me Smalls..Turn around!! Face the batter!
you're there so the team makes its numbers as if that matters.
But holding the mic, I feel like I just might've
stolen my dad's ball in the night.
Autographed 1937 leather classic,
his pride and joy,
signed by "some lady named Ruth,"
and knocked it hard line deep into the jowls beyond the fence.
So yeah,
my dream life as a proposed powerhouse poet may well end.
Till I realized that, to mold a word wizard,
an enlightened elemental,
we all start with the fundamentals,
so someday...I just might make a dent.

To Robtacular: Let me give a word of encouragement; I really enjoy your poetry. Its always a pleasure to read someone unencumbered by tradition and unimpressed with Eliot. Can't wait to read your next, yes I'll say it, satirical piece.

Gave my day a "fillip" although it took me a couple of days of "click" and wait, to get to see your work!
