Let me speak to you, a little,
about love, this something
that goes on between you and me
in the quiet of the morning,
the dawn of another day in which
to think of and hear from you, the rage
of the afternoon when you are,
however briefly, absent, the seemingly eternal
youlessness of the night...

Let me speak to you, a little,
about desire, the body I constantly
try to flesh out from your words,
written or spoken,
the body I may never
hold and which I hold so freely
in my mind..

Let me speak to you, a little,
about you,
though I have only words
to do it with, words
that have no arms, nor fingers to reach out
to stroke your cheek, no legs
to bring me even one actual caress
more close to you.

Let me speak to you, a little,
and then, a little more.

I love this poem, Shou. It is beautifully written, and there is something so soothing in the rhythm. This sounds like a caress. You are a very romantic man, and there's one lucky woman out there. ;)

I have a feeling there are a few more than that. ;) Lovely, lovely. Speaking a little loves a lot.

Hello? Hel-LO? Are you suggesting that I'm a two-timing, philandering, cheating, lying exploiter of women - in other words, a man?

Somehow I'm guessing that you never say "a little".

Love, love the poem.

I didn't mean all at ONCE! :D Funny boy.
And that new girl, Shannon, I think she's got YOUR number. ;) ;)

With some people, a "little" is all I ever get the chance to say....if that!

Splendid quiet one!I like it.

I deeply appreciate the fact that you cited the quietness of it!!! Some things, the more quietly they're said, the more sincerely they're meant.

On the other hand, after I separated from their mother, I would have our three children every week-end, but later, when they were a bit older, we gave them the option whether they would spend the week-end with their mother or with me.

I noticed that for two or three weeks running, my sons chose to be with me but my daughter, the youngest, then maybe five, chose to remain with their mother, Frances. I called Frances to ask if Zoe had a problem coming to my house.

“Yes,” she said: “She mentioned three things that bothered her: You never speak French with her [she was enrolled in a French-immersion school], you never say anything about her ear-rings, and when you get angry, you raise your eyebrows and speak in a very soft voice.”
