I was wondering if any of you guys have experiences with Wilhelm Windelband? Namely,I would like to know your opinion on two of his works, History of Philosophy and An Introduction to Philosophy, are they worth having,as in,are they good(I'm not really looking for something overly simplistic either)? I was thinking about buying one of these books, but I'd like a few opinions first,so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Given that both books were published before 1901, his perspective would be somewhat limited because it would not take into consideration later philosophical thought and controversy. We certainly have a better understanding, for example, of the Greek philosophers than would a writer of his time, and his works would predate much work in the philosophy of science. Obviously, any references to and discusssions about modern philosophers's interpretations of prior philosophy would be lacking.
I would think that there are better (e.g. Russell's History of Philosophy) and far more complete (e.g. Copleston) overviews of the history of philosophy than that of Windelband's. It might be interesting to read, though, as a example of the neo-Kantian school of philosophy- - - especially the Introduction.

I would stick with Will Durant if I was forced to read that old an introduction to philosophy.

Well,my aim was not to find an old philosophy book, just to find out about Windelband specifically.

And I agree,Russell's is very difficult to match. Maybe only Copleston...

If you are a beginner, Osho may be appealing to you. Try out.

Not exactly, but thanks. No reason why he couldn't be appealing to more than just beginners, by the way.
