by Luciano S. Doti
Liliana was in her fourty years old, but seemed less, maybe thirty five. Divorced, middle class member, citizen of Buenos Aires. She came alone, but in that place She will join with her friends; it was Thursday. That was the day of week They destinated to enjoy; dinner and drinks between ladies, maybe adventure. How we said, She was first in her group to came. Passing aside to table ocupated for Diego, She dedicated a smile; a kind of greet, possibly feeling happy because that spirit of Thursday after office into her soul. No stop, She continued walking, on her high heel shoes, untill a table situated insider than Diego`s; He had chosen one aside window. She had a sit and ordered her first drink to the night, Martini. Then, She spared the time watching the room; the wall decoration, the street that, even far, was in part visible; and also her eyes joined in some moment with Diego`s. Martini was drunk by sips. Liliana realized It was all right between them, and because She felt flatered. After that, her friends came, and they ordered dinner. Diego continued drinking, He has not intention to eat.
Now, the room was fill; it was rush hours, in that Thursday night in which people older than twenty five years old meet to have fun, without their couple who have one. The moment is a great chance for single people, lonely hart looking for a cost where run aground. Diego drank, from Liliana`s table some laughter came to him, like an far echo. He watched the ladies having a conversation, and sometimes seeing towards where He was. At the dinner end, friends try to persuade Liliana did not leave that chance.
“Come on, go with him, and ask him if you can have a sit”
“I don`t know, He could think I`m easy.”
“It doesn`t matter, drink one more sip and go, It`s your chance.
Liliana obeyed to her friends, took another sip and She got on foot, next, She walked untill Diego`s table.
“Hello, could I have a sit?”
“Yes, You can, please.”
“What`s your name?”
“Diego. And you?”
“Liliana. Are You waiting somebody?”
“No, I`m single.”
The conversation contnued going over all common speechs, a simple rutin between two persons of different gender who already have leaved boyhood back, and They meet, rather drunk, ready for getting a ocassional relationship. Pragmatism took them.
“Shall We go to my appartment?” She asked, like invitation. “My dougther is with her father, my ex.”
“Ok, let`s go.”
Liliana came to the table where still her friends were, take her handbag and tell them She leaved with Diego. Next, yes, the happy couple went.
In the Liliana`s appartment, drunk coffe and consummated the ritual end. After that, They stuck out to the balcony; the lokewarm early morning were looking dull.
