a perfect painting

They painted a mural in my old school
dedicated to my sister of late
i waited with mixed emotions
as they said their speaches
I watched with sad eyes
as they unvailed the painting

I stood there in awe
staring up at the wall
What beauty i saw
at the end of the hall

I couldn't talk
I couldn't speak
I wanted to say so many things
but i stood there and stared
at the colors and words
that made up my family and me

The words were amazing
beautiful soul writing at the bottom
a perfect quote
for a handcapped child
faith is never ending ambition
it read at the side
what perfect words
for the sister of mine

I eventually turned to the artist in wait
she wanted my aproval
i think
I said to her
it's really pretty
but what i wanted to say was
you've captured my sister in a way
that i could not believe
you've painted us on there
so beautifully
i wanted to say
thank you for
capturing her essence
her happiness
her kindness
her friendship
her beauty
and grace
thank you for delivering us
such a perfect gift.

This is dedicated to Sandy Harron, for gifting me and my family with the mural she painted us in the elementary school. It really is to beautiful for words, and i cannot thank you enough.

there are many emotions coming though this poem. i know exactly were you are coming from. i have had this happen to me before and this puts it into words. It maked you look back on the love that you will always have and the times you had with them. I love the poem and this is a poem that i will read over and over again.
