We have a contest starting on July 1st through work. The contest is based on the biggest loser, the team that loses the biggest percentage of body fat wins. There's a bunch of prizes and it's open to everybody in the company.

There are 4 people to a team. My team consists of three women and one guy. I'm appealing to the litnet gang to help us come up with a name. (These are not literary people so please no literary references.)

(And they turned down any Star Wars or Star Trek related names also)

How about "The Reducers" - I know its a take off of Kasie's Agents of Mass Reduction but this is a little bit shorter (no offense Kasie)

It's not possible for me to get to size 0, I've gained a few pounds since those pictures (with the move and job changes and all) and this will be a good way to get back into the routine of cooking (healthy) for myself and exercising regularly.

I'll add it to the list!

Also, don't forget to drink lots of water before your initial weighing and wear your heaviest clothing and boots so that you can weigh more and seem like you have lost more at the final weighing! :D

Wide Loads sounds like a winner to me.

We had a similar thing at my work. I signed up and my partner and I just did a combo of our last names. But I guess that might not work out since you're teaming up with more than one person. We lasted a week. Then I went on my own weight loss program. they were only offering a $100 gift certificate, so the prize wasn't too enticing, so we blame that for our inability to stick with the program. Good luck.

One of our team members jumped ship for a bigger and better team so I'm going to start campaigning for the Wide Loads. Weigh in is this friday, we're having a fish fry just before everybody weighs in.

yes well its alright when you get properly thing its the inbetweeny stages that are annoying like either your hips sort of collapse and dissapeare but your thighs dont so you still need the same siz trousers only they dont stay up properly
or you loose weight on your top half and not you bottom half or the opposite.
or your bum shrinks but your belly doesnt so clothes sor of hang at the back but are snug at the front---
ok Ill admit Ive been bored and indulging in ALOT of people watching recntly but you know what I mean.

And also Ive noticed that every time you loose weight or gain wieght it seems to distribut differently.

Do you have any good tofu recipes?

Niamh
06-30-2008, 06:35 AM
nope! just chop it up into stirfrys and rice dishes. dont really know what to do with it, although a few years back an old house mate of mine mada a beautiful desert out of tofu!
Here is a Tuna Casserole recipe from my IBS bible of a website
http://www.helpforibs.com/news/newsletter/tunacasserole013003.html
chocolate cheesecake brownies!
http://www.helpforibs.com/news/newsletter/valentines021103.html
chicken pot pie! can replace the chicken with tofu
http://www.helpforibs.com/news/newsletter/chickenpotpie022703.html
I lost another lb!:D thre more pounds to go an i've lost a stone!
Papaya, one of my fave dishes at the moment is;
Jasmine rice, with spiced korean carrots (get from a lituanian food store. sure any veg would do!), smothered in sweet chili sauce. Yumm! very filling. you could add tofu to this and have a proper meal. I get two meals out of one boil n bag of jasmine rice because it so filling. Rice expands in your tummy so you feel full quicker and dont eat as much as a result. :)

Thanks Niamh! I'll give those a try.

It's only been a weekend but people are getting serious. This morning instead of donuts or biscuits in the breakroom someone brought in a big old watermelon.

And another thing....Why is it reps of 12? Why not 11 or 13?

Nightshade

Niamh

Doesnt it just sound gorgeous!

Papaya, heres a recipe for a Soya Smoothie.
chop up one small mango or papaya. Put into a blender with one banana. Add a probiotic yogart drink (actimel), Apple Juice, and sweetened Soya Milk, enough to cover top of fruit in blender. Put on lid, blend, pour and drink! If you have it, add some Acacia tummy fibre to the mixture before blending to give extra help to your digestive system. Its a prebiotic.

And substitue tea and coffee with peppermint & fennel tea. Pepperment is good for your digestion and fennel gets rid of bloating caused by eat foods that aren't good for your system.:)

Mine:
frozen berries
1/2 banana

soy milk
2 tsp wheat germ
2 tsp ground flax seed

12 reps - in weight training I always hear to do 2 reps of 12. Why 12?

repititions

Nightshade
07-01-2008, 09:39 AM
Oh I know the answer to the reps q if its about exercisie, its always even numbers becase they count each arm/leg/direction as 1 so if you are doing the twisty thing its 1 left 2 right 3 left etc, and its always even numbers so you dont end up with on side all musclly and on side all fatty!
wasnt there a film where a guy only excersied one arm?

:goof:

The first weight in was today. I think most of us ended up losing something we're attributing it to the fact that we filled up on fried catfish and hush puppies before the initial weigh in.
