Uninteresting wine.
Sweet beer.
Southern Comfort (first baddest experience - even the smell...)
Grapefruit juice

Favorite Foreign Dish?
Lasagna... But it's not really foreign to me, as my background is Italian. Hee hee
Favourite time in your life?
MystyrMystyry
12-18-2010, 04:04 AM
Salvital was a fizzy drink lemiony drink - you stir in a teaspoon of powder and when you drank it the bubbles tickled as they went up your nose. Some kids loved that - I was one, and it's linked to the best time in my life.
I had such great fearless moments of exhilaratingly insane happiness in my early childhood- before everything fell apart and everyone went serious.
Anyway this period's pretty good - very few problems, nobody in my life I don't want (and certainly not in swarming plague proportions like they used to)
Lasagna, Yum!
But I think tonight's promising Moussaka (so at least for the next twentyfour hours...)
(I just remembered another horror - Tresca - it was the Coke company's first entry in the no sugar drinks market - before TAB. And my lazy fat perpetually dieting mother 'Excercise! Why should I excercise!' filled the fridge with the crud. Honestly, it tasted like flyspray and she wouldn't buy normal cordial because all the money had already gone on it.)

Hahaha... I avoid the romantic comedies. But I do like comedies in general.
Same?
MystyrMystyry
12-18-2010, 04:40 AM
'll watch virtuallyanything provided it's a new story, not a remake (though I enjoyed the latest King Kong), and it's not competing with something better, and also if I'm in the mood for 'just watching'
But I agree most modern romcom's are a bit weak - I do like old screwball ones, and the quick-witted Kate Hepburn's too
One thing I'll never watch is the cricket, not under any circumstances, not if you paid me, not under threat of going to prison nor torture (it's it's own torture) and I strongly believe it should have been buried a century ago and consigned to 'embarassing aspects of human history'
Favorite seaons of the year? In order please

Spring, because I am into colour, fragrance and freshness. Autumn for it's splendour and leaves, Winter for the chill... Love the chill. Don't take well to Summer as it is too hot and we get temperatures of 35 degrees and over... One can always put a jumper on if cold, but one cannot take too much off in the heat, without first, getting arrested. Hahaha.
Same question. I like this one. :)
faithosaurus
12-18-2010, 10:51 AM
Fall, because of the pretty leaves and fun half-way clothes (between summer and winter) and trench coats. Summer because I get to go boating. Spring because it's when all the pretty flowers grow and there's lots of rain (I love rain). Then winter, because I hate the snow (and driving in it).

Edible: Orange tree. Aesthetically: Oak (plural actually, singular makes me sad).
Actually edible includes peaches, yummy plums, apricots, pears, bananas, nuts and berries, and all those vegetables! And onion and Garlic!
Aesthetically - all of them, though poison ivy can be a bit hard to take, triffids scare me out of my skin, and I hope some mad scientist doesn't develop a man eater with big teeth!

Poetry and poetry clubs. Armed with a bit of liquor for a tough nights' reading and listening to other people's things can be as much or more fun than reading out of a book or off a computer screen (I rarely criticise their works though unless something particular jars with me and I believe it could be greatly improved just by altering the order of some words - most of it's great just as it is, your poor lonely poets, you)
Favorite time of day?

Same question please... I like that one.
MystyrMystyry
12-21-2010, 04:25 AM
I do like the late night/early morning sessions - when my body clock's so in tune
Tackers've moved in next door, school holidays and there's a basketball hoop attachd to the galvanised iron shed - every five seconds there's a bang of the shed and every ten there's a kabang against the steel fence right outside my window
Screaming, shouting, kicking the fence - I've tried everything, but they can dish out AC/DC decibels
When everything's gone wrong internally though (more tired than I'm perpared to admit, hungrier than I realise, forget it, I need my sleep
Sometimes I just feel a little tired, go for a nap and wake sixteen hours later! At the wrong time of day - 'Where amI ? Where've I been? What's been happening, and it can take two hours to find my bearings...
Day time can be a drag because most of my old friends grew up before me and have all moved to the farthest corners of the Earth, but when a few good old close once drop by it be the highlight of the month

Too many to list - though you may've guessed by now, though I've been trying to shake you - I'm a qualified cordon bleu chef.
Tonight's favorite will be a Supermarket Lasagna - because I bought it before the chicken packs (never go shopping on a rumbling tummy!) and the picture on the packet looks appealing, even though my spidey sense is tingling, telling me there's likely to be more nutritional value and higher hygenic standards in the cardboard packaging
Maybe I'll eat that as well - with whipped cream and honey
Favorite forum regular - and you have to be honest. But if it's me, the next one down please...

I have to be honest and say this time of evening and your responsive self are definitely growing on me - though it does take a lot of time between posts -time that realisticly I normally have reserved for sideprojects
This is a fairly holidayish activity for someone who is quite unfamiliar with the concept and practice (Go Go Gomez, me), and who'll probably be spending Christmas Day alone again (boo hoo)
But I'm new, see, and you've been around for a while, and in that time you would have made quite a number of attachments
I want to come across as cool, aloof, outdoorsy, detached, worldly, subtle, spare, like The Comedian or hillwalker or Silas Thorne or stlukesguild say - but being me it doesn't work - not to mention no Avatar nor pithy sayings etc (and no blog, which is perhaps why a lot of my posts are like mini-blogs - maybe we should all be grateful for that)
So yeah, you seem pretty cool, Mary skating across the kitchen floor in your little cotton socks

Favourite song?
MystyrMystyry
12-21-2010, 06:21 AM
You don't know what you're missing - simply one of the most scintillating hysterical, brillant programmes ever to air in any country. Its from New Zealand and is perfecty tuned to my off-beat sense of comedy, and seems to be operating on a whole number of different levels
Sometimes you wonder if a scene is meant to be funny - the timing is that good - you know it is, but not as funny as it actually is
You'd have to see it to understand, and I'm sort of sorry that you haven't been watching. Like knockabout family interactions meet High Art on occasion - 'How did the writers come up with that!' you find youself gasping as often as laughing into your pillow (so as not to wake the neighbours)
But if I go on I might raise your expectations too high - sometimes it's just plain dumb it needs be said, and for long stretches you can wonder why you've ever bothered to turn it on, but when it works - knockout stuff
Favorite song's hard - it has more to do with nostalgia for me these days. Sometimes something comes over the airwaves and sends me hurtling back through time to a distant great day I've all but forgotten and almost brought to tears.
Favorite radio show?
Maryd.
12-21-2010, 06:25 AM
Oddly enough, I don't care too much for the radio either. I am either writing or have my headphones on, using an mp3 player to listen to music I have uploaded. I am a tad weird. Sorry to disappoint you.
Favourite animal?
MystyrMystyry
12-21-2010, 06:36 AM
You mean downloaded - maybe I should email you some of mine?
Have you noticed how many views Favorites/Would You? have been getting? I'm starting to feel a little paranoid...
I like a bit of white noise (music, yabber) in the background when I'm relaxing in a particular mood, at least because I spend a lot of time in headphones composing and seriously listening, and by radio show I guess I meant triple JJJ with it's experimental/modern recent, versus MMM with it's modern classic versus Fresh FM with its dance grooves versus Public FM with it's alternative oldies, but if you don't listen you don't listen
Have you tried podcasts and talking books?
Too many animals - some for their coolness value, some for their interesting value, some for their detached dignity, but if I had to pick one - probably me...
Maryd.
12-21-2010, 06:40 AM
No and no... I am quite the oddball to say the least. I am fussy with my music. But I can go from listening to something modern to something classical, to something weird, or rock. I like the music from Gold fm... But I can't stand the chatter. So I just play my own songs. :)
Favourite period/time/era in your life?
MystyrMystyry
12-21-2010, 07:07 AM
I've sort of answered that, but on a good day the good days outnumber the bad, on a bad day, the opposite.
When you're depressed you don't know it. You don't look any different to anyone else, but if they say you look depressed, well that can really depress you because you may merely be thinking about something higher, and who is this idiot? Disrupting my solitary magnificence with their nonsense.
My answer to that is to be doing something with my hands - there's five million nerve-endings in each one that connect directly up the arm into the brain - just fixing a bicycle can seem to physically change the global weather. One second overcast gloomy to warm sunny slight breeze.
Don't tell the poets this - happy poets are unbearable :)

Favorite candle scent?
MystyrMystyry
12-25-2010, 10:01 PM
Actually I belatedly realised what a difficult question the 'popsong' was - for a while I thought it wasn't receiving an answer because it was personal
(Note to self: ask me the question before posting)
Raw candle scent for my tastes. I've a deep suspicion of added chemicals to otherwise enjoyable sensations (What's really in soap - itchy powder?)
A few years previous it was possible to procure from craft fairs candles manufactured from rolled honeycomb that exuded a subtle hint of burnt honey - that was pleasant, if expensive - but made from real wax, not tallow
Favorite type of computer programme?
Beautifull

Favorite type of legwear?(leggings, jeans, etc.)
MystyrMystyry
12-26-2010, 06:52 PM
Up until a few years ago I only ever felt comfortable in blue denim jeans, and one day I came upon a pair of track dacks (for being slack - they were like pyjamas you could wear all day, and no-one dare criticise me)
But for going out, I still prefer jeans, and actually I don't think I'd want to have an accident (they happen) in public wearing anything else. I may one day regret this if say my leg got caught in a churning machine and ruined my favorite pair

Foreign movies - especially surprisingly good ones from countries not known for it's cinema. But then restaurants, which are like the Holy Grail of YUM, comfort and my ideal second home (I've thought of opening one just so I could live the vibe all day all night long - but something always comes up)

But also 'This book this book this book...' (best to keep you distance when I'm engrossed in a classic)
My favorite daytime place to read is beneath my big leafy walnut tree, even if walnuts occasionally hit me on the head (haven't you been reading my blog? You should). Night time it's bed

Favorite genre of music?
MystyrMystyry
12-27-2010, 11:38 PM
Depends on mood. Sometimes experimental electronic soundscapes. Othertimes deep ambient, or interestingly evolving rhythmic Steve Roach stuff. Sometimes Jazz (all of it, even trad), sometimes Blues, sometimes Clever Pop, or Heaviest of Metal
Obviously classical, but composers' personal stamps tend to be a genre unto themselves, and so which period, which symphony, which opera etc etc
Easier to say that my blood runs cold when I hear doof doof sounds emanating from doofus cars, boring disco from any era, witless repetitive anything from every era...
You?
faithosaurus
12-27-2010, 11:43 PM
Also depends on my mood. Sometimes I'm in the mood for classical music, sometimes I get into the mood for down-tone music (Norah Jones, Anna Nalick, etc.), and times for alternative (Paramore, Train, Goo Goo Dolls), and when I'm all hyped up I'm with the hit music (you know, Katie Perry, Eminem, Rihanna, all that jazz).

Reptile skin - not real reptile, real reptile I detest with every fibre as my knowledge that the Earth does not belong to humans, that we share it with billions of others species who were all bottlenecked during the last ice age
We were all brothers in survival, but we tend to treat everything as our enemy even if we understand to just keep clear
I'm not saying all of us - just reminded of some idiot I saw on TV who happily thought he was really clever because Canandian baby fur seals were so easy to kill and there were so many people willing to club them to death for peanuts, and he could sell their fur to rich stupid Russians and live rich among similarly stupid men (and dirt poor amongst everything normal)
(Also I discovered this icecream: Magnum coffee with Arabica beans, which is now my favorite coffee flavour - and, as it happens, icecream flavour)

Favorite kind of club?
MystyrMystyry
12-28-2010, 05:08 PM
Something quiet, relaxed, full of self-aware interesting conversationalists that don't need to harass and harangue and shout incomprehensibly and try to be the best dancer the world's ever seen (which is ridiculous) and whose confidence comes from alcohol and speed, and if you do talk to them they have nothing to say because they have no minds

Favorite fantasy country?
faithosaurus
12-28-2010, 05:19 PM
I must say I have no idea how to respond to that one.
Favorite movie trailer?
MystyrMystyry
12-28-2010, 06:15 PM
For fantasy country I meant Narnia, Middle-Earth, Wonderland etc
A movie trailer takes the best bits out of a movie and gives it to you in a one-to-five minute burst so that after you've seen the movie you think to yourself 'I could have saved myself two hours I won't be getting back by just watching the trailer and not seeing the movie. So why did I watch the movie? Because the trailer made me want to'
Therefore, from an advertising point of view all trailers must be good, but from a personal perspective I'd like to do a short movie that is just the trailer for a movie - though it's probably already been done
But a trailer from a movie I enjoyed I don't mind seeing a few times again after the movie
(I wrote a short story once which was an introduction to a novel that goes too far and condenses the novel down to a short story told in a chopped up fashion - and then I found out it had already been done)

favorite parasite?

Can there be a favorite parasite? Those things can really be annoying. How about I pick the one that grosses me out the most: tapeworm
*I just learned that this bugger implants itself into the wall of your stomach on one side, and as they take nutrients and things from it's host the end part grows longer. Very gross...
Favorite line from a movie? i.e: "You talking to me?", "There's a snake in my boot!", etc.

Chief Inspector - 'Dammit Harry - your self-serving recklessness has once again screwed the reputation of the entire Frisco PD! The switchboard's lit up like a Christmas Tree! I've had enough! I'm putting you in Public Relations!'
Dirty Harry - 'Public Relations!? That's for losers!
Chief Inspector - 'I was in public relations for fifteen years!'
Dirty Harry - '...Yeeahh...'
One of the Dirty Harry movies (and deliberately misquoted because it's better in the film - but blink and you'd miss it)
