Looking in the mirror,,,
by mazHur

It made me laugh
at myself;
That was a deadly mistake
Looking in the mirror
At my age!
reflections of old follies,
timidities, audacities;
delights and regrets,
successes and failures,
done undone deeds;
Ah, all that crap
which made me up
which cooked me up
into the present shape
yet I live with a complaining heart;
so many desires still unfulfilled,
so many wishes that got killed
by the ruthless hand of time;
What can I do now
with my aching and shaking body?
The destination seems round the corner
no friend, no foe besides
to keep the fire of my ambitions
kindled;
Yet, I made a fool of myself
by glancing in the mirror
Only to find the broken edifice
of life now to be lifted
and dumped by someone
into a shallow narrow ditch !

Oh Mazhur, you are a real poet and every time you come up with very interesting poems. I think this time there is a big gap.

Anyway it is really thrilling a very touching poem.

At first it reminded me of Dorian Grey, but then I said no...there was nothing of a life lived in Dorian's portrait, until the true last moment!

dear blaze,,,,
thanks for appreciating and commenting so generously. Actually, this poem came out of my depressive mood persisting for the last few days. I feel a person ought not get old as old age brings weakness and it goes without saying that weaker someone is he's more prone to attack by microbes ,,,,and poetry is rightly said to be an expression of feelings,,,,one can n only write a good poem when and if he's in the right mood and words burst out of his heart automatically.

thanks again and best wishes:)
