So,I was wondering, how do you guys pronounce le Brocquy?I really have no idea what's the correct pronunciation, especially since it doesn't really look like a British last name,at least to me.

Every help is welcome, thanks in advance.

I don't know the name, but I'm French and I would pronounce it Le Brokey. Just like Niamh but I would would not pronounce the [k] sound twice. My mother's name has a <c> and a <q> following each other like that and you only pronounce it once.

Yes,I am asking about Louis le Brocquy, but what always puzzled about his last name me was the fact that he is a born Dubliner - so I thought this was some sort of an Irish surname and wasn't sure about pronouncing it.

Anyway, thanks,I always pronounced it le broc-key,so I guess I wasn't too far off.:)

We have many surnames in Ireland of french origin. Because of the normans. Devereaux, La Touche etc Mind you a few hundred years of an irish person pronouncing it and it would sound completely different! :D
For example we have a street in Dublin Called D'Olier Street. Automaticly people outside Ireland pronounce it the french way, but its actually D'o-lear to us.
