1= The world Caliph has come from Arabic word Khalifah which means: vicegerant, the one who comes after, successor. In the holy Quran the word Khalifah is used for:
Prophets and messengers as representatives of God. (2:31) . And it is also used for representative of a master prophet. In that case, the representative maybe a prophet himself. For example, prophets in Israelities were vicegerants of holy Moses. Holy Aaron acted as a caliph in the time of holy Moses.
2= Allah says in holy Quran:
Allah has promised to those among you who believe and do good deeeds that He will surely make them Caliphs (Successors)in the earth, as He made Successors (from among) those who were before them. And that He will surely give them in exchange security after their fear. They will worship Me, they will not associate anything with Me. Then whoso is ungrateful after that, they will be rebellious. (chapter 24: verse 56)
3= The holy Prophet of Islam foretold that caliphs would come after his death, followed by kings. He also prophecied the advent of a latter day reformer, subserviant to him, with caliphs after him too (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him and all pious people). A reformer with one or another name, is being waited in almost all religions. Jews are waiting for first comming of Messiah, Christains for second comming, Muslims for Mahdi / Messiah, Bhudists for Bhudha, so on. Wait is there --- with variations in details.
4= According to two hundred million Ahmadiyya muslims in one hundred and ninety countries in the world, the promised man appeared in India in 1889. He said he came :
1)--to re-establish spiritual relation of human with God based upon love and sincerity.
2) no wars on the name of God and peace be installed. No wars because in latter days, opponents of Islam do not carry swords to stop worship of Allah. (currents conflicts are basically politically or power based)
3)--to re-illumine the divine truths.
4)--to develop spirituality in human which is already lost under the darkness of selfishness of people.
5)--reflection of attributes of God be shown in human by self-example---by means of prayers and spiritual attention.
6)--to remind people about the pure Unity of God.
He humbly claimed that all above mentioned goals shall be accomplished not by him but by with the help of Lord of heaven and Earth.
5= He was accepted by several hundred thousands of people in his life time while they met united opposition from many groups. His words reached in europe and america in his life. A spiritual duel was held between him and Mr. Alenxander Doe. Incident is reported in at least 56 newspapers etc of that time (e.g, The Herald of Boston 23 june, 1907)
6= After his death, system of caliphate was established in his community on 27 th may, 1908. Now, on 27 may, 2008 his world wide followers celebrated centenary celebartions with hearty prayers under the fifth caliph of the community. They resolved to carry the message of Allah to world with Love For All Hatred For None which was the call of holy prophet of Islam and all the prophets of God.
