*not sure how/where this came from. yes i drink coffee, have managed coffee houses as well. it's very disjointed, mea culpa...

coffee married itself
to mocha slipped
itself inside my skin
carressed my back
gave birth to
lloyds of london
and more families
in columbia kenya
tanzania
this planet
than i could ever hope to
count
could ever hope to dream
of the day when
it first was brewed
like lightning from the sky
who first smelled it
burnt and who?
offered it first to you
which donkeys
carry your burden, too
which children
died under fire
for your
new-fangled-it
grinds-the-beans
itself-machine
with
sumatra
ethiopian harrar
blue mountain jamaica,
ooh must go back
to those blue seas
brown men
music and joe
teenagers
meanwhile dying from snow
and old men carrying
green beans
waylaid by soldiers
wearing green leaves
and scorpions crawling
from their smiles into
burlap bags
-before dying on
nameless roadsides-
while rain comes down
and feeds the stream
of commuters yawning
at 5 a.m.
students yawning
at 4 a.m.
-when again are
papers due?-
the sun shines
on toothless offspring
who'll never look
a day under 60
while CEO's buy their
wives some stars
and i stir my spoon
order 2 mocha lattes
please
and please you with
my cocoa smile
please you with my
cocoa whiles
and drink deadly little
white horse screams.

*the slang might not be universal - in the u.s. "snow" and "white horse" refer to cocaine.

It makes me remember when I sent this petition to Starbucks and Nescafe regarding their "abusive" act to poor coffee farmers.

Good one Ash ;)

Holy fan-blinking-tastic, Batman!!!
I love this, Amuse.
All of the types of coffee that you used in your poem are ones that we carry at my place of work, so I think I shall skip the cup o' joe right now and read this again for my fix. ;)
