as I sit in church I feel the need to filter
to cling to what I find is true
and throw out what doesn't make sense
on a mad love chase
attempting to pursue the One that I love
what is God's name
should we pick
should we limit ourselves to only the Bible
who are you to judge me
for I have found God in the rain
and in the eyes of children
in the natural light of the sun
and in the warm hugs of my loved ones
I'm sick of Bible stories
the same thing over and over again
in many ways it seems as if the Bible limits God
to me, God exceeds the Bible
He is not one to be contained within paper pages
I want a crazy love story
a trivial pursuit of danger and challenge
give me one pure and hold passion
give me one magificient obsession
my mind and soul yearn to be filled
and church doesn't do it for me anymore
interpretations
we look too hard into all of this
we analyze everything too much
God speaks not only through the Bible
but God speaks in silence
in dancing
in writing
we all just need silence
so God maybe be able to give us His voice without noise
let me worship the way I want to worship
We all seek the same
but are fulfilled through different vessels
you say God doesn't answer your prayers?
your life is but a prayer
walk with God
don't struggle to pray
it shouldn't be a struggle
change your insides
twist and turn them
so you may see from another perspective
and thus understand that your way is not the only way
love with everything you have
and pursue God's heart
hopefully everything will fall into place

...anyone else struggle with the whole "religion vs. spirituality" problem?

I did.

Then I found a place that explained the Bible to me in a way that made the entire book make perfect sense.

And now church has become personal for me.

That's what it's supposed to be about after all;)

Good luck finding the answers you seek.

Religion will never give you spirituality, God alone can do that. All of the religion in the world will not equal a walk with God. It has to be personal or you don't have anything. Your walk with God becomes personal, what God reveals to you. I don't think you can toss out the Bible as a guide, but the way you discover God will be for you alone to find! That's what took me years to learn and I am a minister!

This poem touched me, for this breaks with the tradition and takes man away to everyday reality where man does everything, loves, understands, believes one another without religiosity.

Indeed we must not be tangled by ideals of religions and fetters of churches.
