THE MOON’S NIGHT ON THE TOWN
Outside in the sky the Moon is starting to rise,
with a soft, wind-blown kiss.
Tonight she is clad in a glowing orange dress,
with streamers of clouds down the sides.
All of the stars come out for the view,
with whispers and nudges and winks.
The waves of the sea all bow one by one
in honor of her splendid majesty.
Perhaps she is trying to make the Sun jealous,
for they were bonded at the beginning of time.
She kicks up her heels like a carefree debutante
enjoying her first night on the town.
But, No! The Sun smiles on the World’s far side,
for he is proud to see homage paid to her.
As men to their wives, the Sun to the Moon
is proud to have others notice her—
as long as they don’t look too close!
