I find it almost impossible for me to understand—
Here I am almost fifty and still acting like a kid…
Can’t I ever be focused on just the task at hand?

Problems are a group of marauding barbarians,
No matter what choice I make, there is a counterbid…
I find it almost impossible for me to understand—

Is it just a slight disorder of my thyroid gland?
A point just short of showing on the microscopic grid?
Can’t I ever be focused on just the task at hand?

Can’t I just be content to be a slave to the hour hand,
Instead of spending time chasing the treasure of Captain Kidd?
I find it almost impossible for me to understand—

How a man can love his vision, and so much can go unplanned.
To do all that I dream would require as many arms as a squid!

I find I am on trial and me upon the witness stand,
Telling myself there are problems, may the eternal God forbid!
