That one really is a bit too broad.

But perhaps it was intended that way. Someone, and it may have been Macchiavelli, made some comments about how nations change after wars, whether they win or lose.

I'm going to take a guess and assume that you are asking about the postmodern era; I would say this era has roots in WWI when people began to be disillusioned with war, but really takes off after WWII. And if I remember my lit crit professor correctly, the big thing with this movement in comparison to the modern movement is the loss or questioning of faith. Not necessarily religious faith, but faith in anything.

I think a good analogy would be of a parent telling their child to do something, and when the child ask why, the parent would reply, "Because I say so and I know best." The "modern child" would automatically stop asking the parent why and accept the parent's statement. The "postmodern child" would continue to ask question after question, demanding that the parent thoroughly explain their position, and even if the parent gave a reasonable explanation, the child would still be dissatisfied with the parent's reasoning.

Please, anyone feel free to correct me. This is a very broad subject and it has been a couple of years since I've really looked at, but if my memory serves me correctly this is one of the main points of postmodernism.

Postmodern literature is something that has to do with taking literature along new invention and science also.
