where am i?
within myself, or within you?
every answer is a lie
and every question true

there is a man behind the glass
a simple reflection of your soul
just waiting there to be smashed
waiting silently to gain control

yet when with others your mannerisms change
what does this say about the self?
is it something that we can rearrange?
or just throw upon the shelf?

and all alone is when you hurt
when the mask means nothing
when all the feeling becomes inert
and emptiness corrupts everything

after all the pain has numbed away
you`ll wish for a better part of yourself
find all the flaws that occurred today
you`ll wish for a better part of yourself...

This is an interesting twist on your usual (or earlier) style. On one hand, It starts off with kind of a defeatist vibe, but with this line:

"after all the pain has numbed away
you`ll wish for a better part of yourself
find all the flaws that occurred today
you`ll wish for a better part of yourself..."

you clearly express the value of learning lessons even from the darker parts of life. Not that I'm a bible-thumper (or even a Christian), but it kind of reminds me of the first chapter of James, where he pretty much talks about the same thing. It goes:

"My friends, consider yourselves fortunate when all kinds of trials come your
way, for you know that when your faith succeeds in facing such trials, the result is the ability to endure".

I like this one. Honestly, I would have chalked it up as a bit too "dark" or even "depressing" for my tastes, but the last lines (the ones I quoted) added a new depth. Kind of like the lime and sugur after a shot of tequilla. I've watch you grow as a writer this year, both in your overall style, as well as the little "tricks" you've picked up. Keep it up, brohan! Peace- Chris

This is a fine poem of self examination. I'm not sure how to read S2. I keep wanting to read it one way, but I think it actually reads another.

I can be quite dense reading the truth in something. I am a slow reader, so perhaps it's me.
