Greetings! I just stumbled upon this site while googling a literature resource. Fantastic place!
My early reading (elementary-middle school) was predominantly fantasy driven- Tolkien, Brooks, Anthony....
High School introduced me to poetry and the classics, to which I've read many.
College...well...I didn't do a lot of discretionary reading. A double major doesn't allow for much time. Post graduation, opened many doors.
I'm currently reading American literature, mostly non-fiction, but a smidge of fiction in there (Wallace Stegner, Faulkner). My current main interests lie in early American slavery and its socio-political ramifications on both the north and the south. I've read many great books, including some fictional accounts ('Bound For Canaan', 'Uncle Tom's Cabin' etc...), but focus largely on actual accounts of the acts and medium.
Now to the query...is there a place on this board that holds discussions pertinent to slavery as a unique subject? If not, what about early America, or the American Civil War?
Thanks, and nice to be here.
