Why do we want religions after all?
People say it is a reservoir of morality and ethics. But far from being so religions have been divisive always. I am afraid I may hurt religion holders and therefore sticking the rules I do not want to mention any particular religions here but I stress that history evidences that religions have always pushed religions backwards.
Is not it better to be natural rather than religious?
Please share your views as to how religions have helped human beings.

Religion gives people hope, albeit a false hope. I think that people like the feeling of belonging to a particular group too, which is where it all goes wrong.
What do you mean when you say "natural" by the way? I think that religion was and still is natural.

Religious can only be justified aesthetically.

If all religions went away today, new ones would take their places tomorrow. "Where two or more are gathered in my name..."

I think that it is of no matter whether we want religions or not. I also think that religion is natural. Humans naturally know that there is something bigger than and beyond themselves. Without religion, I think humans would have no purpose.

Religion teaches people a way of life. Here I am referring to religion as a stand alone, not focussing on the devisive nature.
It brings certain orderliness in the lives of people, be it the followers of Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, etc. There are certain guidelines that tell people the ideal way of living a good life.
It is now that we have national or inetrnational laws that govern our lives and take a precedence over religion (however there are countires where religion still is of importance), and these laws tell us what is right or wrong, besides religion. But there have been times, when religion was of utmost importance.
Religion still holds importance because there are followers who believe that if they practice it they will be able to lead a good life. It is natural as well, so far as my understanding goes, religions dont defy the laws of nature.
Any belief is a religion, and, the rate the world is going, we are far from all turning into literal nihilists.

Do we all want religion after all? some people want, for they really need it.its surprising how religion constricted our life, our decision. we do mingle religion with faith, ritual, devotion and for a strange reason we all like to make believe how religious we are all!

Ahh, Blaze of Love, you are so right. We all still live in the garden of eden, but now we have a choice to believe or not to believe. What shall we believe? I believe that animals show us the path. That plants want not, and die when they must, but are reborn. I believe there is a spiritual path for us "intelligent lifeforms", and I know that you aid me in my goals. I am proud to only know you on the internet my friend, for I could not see the light when your glory is so bright. Peace unto you, and all whom shall follow. B
