Artist of Winter
Rustic golden shades splash over the earth,
The remaining remnants of summer fading
As the wild grass and flowers die,
Slowly…
Standing now dry and brittle
Only swaying spasmodically in the cool winter breeze.
Through this death the earth has changed its tones,
Now stray butterflies of royal blue and black
Throw sharp contrasts against their bleak world
Now a world of calm golden browns and grays.
The occational velvet face of a purple flower-
A rash, stubborn child of the winter,
Breaks the uniformed scene to create
A landscape of a truly beautiful winter.
