“For me, then, as they began to play again, it glowed and shook above my brother's head like the very cup of trembling”
- James Baldwin, “Sonny’s Blues”

a cupful of commotion
condensates,
outer walls dampen
and dust themselves to air

shade ripples, clicking ice
into the ceramic shell,
a magnified impulse
of outgoing hell

leveraged by sound
the casement cools
and settles
onto the ground

Not only that, it swirls around in my cup as if I'm standing at a gathering watching my wine while listening to you talk. I like it.

thanks for reading phoebe, prince, and ampoule

glad you enjoyed it. i still feel kind of let down by the ending, and think it's a little bit funny that the quote is almost as long as the poem, but oh well.
