Recently I have looking for short stories for a translation project. I intend to work on the humour in short stories. I have already taken Saki as one of the authors. Can you people help me to find other authors who see the humorous side of life. :)

Could you elaborate on the criteria for the project?

O.Henry also has some funny short stories IIRC,but I haven't read much of him.

I want to look at how wit and humor is dealt in translation. for that I have chosen work from Saki. And I want to know some other authors as well

You might try Mark Twain and, as a more recent author, David Sedaris.

The most difficult thing to translate is puns, it seems to me. Most of them don't work in foreign languages.

Eudora Welty has a very funny short story called Why I Am Living at the P.O. Evelyn Waugh has a couple of good funny stories, not many unfortunately.
