Through the field he ran,
The Sun would ne’er rise;
But once he saw a man,
Who only shrugged in despise.
The path grew tall with vines,
Roots at every step;
The sun still did hide,
To it he seemed inept.
As the trail began to twist
The sun had crept beneath a cloud
And the trees roared and hissed;
All he wished was to yell aloud,
But it would only be missed.
Amongst the rivers he came
He would now have to swim;
The sun looked down with shame
But would hide beneath a brim.
Though tired he still pressed on
When others would have quit;
To the sun he seemed as if a pawn,
Who would do nothing but spit.
In the distance the end began to near,
But would cower away and hide in fear;
The sun had seemed to not let him finish,
And let his hopes and dreams be diminished.
