Dimmu Borgir. (sorry, i have to elaborate)
A black metal band that is fairly unknown in the us.
Very unappriciated music. I love this band becuase they are so melodic. The lead singer was a composer and director for more than 10 years of his life. And the bassist was also in opera for several years.
They frequently use orchestra in their music and typically have one or two songs on each album that is ONLY orchestra and band. On one of their older albums they hired the Progg orchestra and played a BEAUTIFUL piece that the lead singer wrote and directed.
If you really try to LISTEN to melodic death and black metal, its influences from dark classical music are clear.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Dimmu Borgir! Way popular in Greece, at least.

Regarding classical music my favorite composer is Puccini. Apart from that, I only listen to Heavy Metal, and my favorite act is Nightwish, Epica, and many other bands. I cannot really choose.:D

This is a really hard question for me like answering what kind of music I like. I am very variate with all and I am not putting much preference in a composer. But since I should mention I will say Nikolas Sideris. Ha!

My favorite composer would probably be Mahler or Schoenberg. For non-classical music I would have to go with John Coltrane.

I've lately been turned on to the music of Charles Ives. It's wonderful. He may become my favorite 20th century composer. Check out his Symphony #4.

Seriously now, how did you manage to write the name down? How fast do you say it? Which is the middle name?

My favorite are: Amy Lee and Otep Shamaya

Some of Bach's common peices are Toccatta in Fuge in D minor. My favorite (so far) are the Brandenburg Concerto's number 1 and 4.

It takes me about 45 seconds to say it. If you click on the link in my original post, you'll see that Graham Chapman and John Cleese could say it much faster (although I am faster than Terry Jones ).
