Hey all,
I have a question about MLA Parenthetical Documentation. How exactly would you cite a line from the epigraph of a novel (ie, the John Donne passage at the beginning of Hemingway's For Whom the Bell Tolls)?
Thanks.
Not sure if this is exactly what you need, but try to have a look around the site, it could be there somewhere

Don't cite the eipigraph. Cite the original author. If this means you must find a book with J. Donne's original work.....so be it. Also, this will up your cite count, and your professor will know you've gone that extra mile.....put in that extra effort. For some professors, that in itself is worth a few percentage points.

OK, cool. I have the whole Meditation in one of my books from high school, so I shouldn't have any problems.
Thanks! :thumbs_up
