God of Winds

If the wind grows angry today,
tornados are in the forecast.
Howling banshees that sweep down,
sheer destruction unleashed.
The wind becomes a twisted monster,
roaring lion, unstoppable beast.

Time may come to seek shelter,
refugees from stormy weather,
hiding in basement labyrinths,
ducking into holes like scared rabbits,
shivering as the moan of death approaches
cyclone horror that might not pass…

What makes the winds so angry,
that they must get all bent out of shape?
Are we just at Aeolus’ whim—
or does something we do bring Devine Destruction—
we set ourselves up for the fall?
It begs our deep thinking as to source…

Strange it is that violent vapors
in but an eye-blink wipe out years of toil.
The tornado passes in mere seconds,
the path of devastation remains for months.
The dead are remembered.
The pain lasts for a lifetime…

We pray today that the winds find calm,
that anger turns to placidity.
We watch the clouds,
we listen to the watchers of Doppler Radar.
We watch and wait.
And we pray for peace…

Wonderful tribute to the meditative heart and the virtue of humility before the ragnarok of nature!

Thank you, Prince M. Wonderful word, "ragnarok". Also called "Göttdamerung", I believe, the "Twilight of the Gods". Good description of nature's fury! ;) :)
