Help!

Tomorrow there is going to be a huge party for all the people at my work, 350 people. I have succesfully dodged every attempt to make me hold the speech.

But now Iīm a bit troubled . Since my friends would laugh at me, Iīll just trust you to be kind and helpful. Thatīs right. Nice and helpful. As you can see Iīm desperate.

There is going to be dance. OK - I love to dance. At night clubs and raves. I can shake various bodyparts to the beat. I dontīknow how to dance anything that actually requires you to hold the other person. So I thought Iīll just sit and watch.

Now my boss has , jokingly , asked for a dance.
To say it in new-speak - double plus bad.

I can A - decline, B - pretend that I have twisted my ancle and use a cane during the entire dinner, C - just leave the party after dinner and run like a coward, or D - learn to dance tonight.

I donīt know what to wear either. We are at work first, and then we are going to a mansion on the country side. So I have to find something that
is OK both for work and party, because I will not have time to change clothes. Black, kneelenght dress and a nice scarf perhaps? I do not own any scarf, but I guess I can get one...

Mansion. Dinner where men wear ties. Dance to an orchestra. Boss. Panic.
Help.

Hey, don't panic... If you can dance at the clubs and 'shake certain body parts' that means, you have sense of rythm, which is the ony thing you need! :)

Good luck with it all! You have to tell us how it goes on!

Isagel, do this...

Hold out your left hand like you are signaling Hitler, but bend your arm at the elbow. Then take your right hand, and pretend like you are reaching around the frigerator to plug it into the wall. Stand up straight. Then take your body weight and shift it onto your left foot, and then onto your right foot, while slightly lifting the opposite leg off the ground.

Seriously, it's that easy. Then you will just have to spin around in a circle, like a honey glazed turkey on display at the deli.

I don't think women expect more than that out of guys. And if you give them more, it's typically a pleasant surprise. Plus, you said you have a certain amount of rhythm, so you could probably improvise from there.

Lots of luck.

Thank you both.
Iīm abit calmer now.
Iīm practising. Scheherazade has sent me a dance lesson in a PM. And thank you Shore dude. Suddenly evrything seems less scary.
"honey glazed turkey" - I feel like that. Iīm not used to dressing up like this. I look like my mom.

I can do anything on the dance floor except break dancing, which for me is impossible. *ADD kicks in* Has anyone heard The Darkest Side Remix?

Mission accomplished!
I have danced jitterbugg and foxtrot. I did not step on his toes.
All is well.
Thank you all.

You're a girl?!

Sorry, my dancing advice was for a dude. Not how you girls do it...

I kind of guessed the gender mix up, so I just switched evrything - right arm instead of left, and so on. I refrained from spinning him. I was tempted , though.

Iīll see if I can find The darkest side (remix) now. Who is it that does the remix? Iīm curious. My favorite dance music right now is Tanz mit Laibach, by Laibach.

The guy who did the remix is Jim Johnston.
