View Full Version : What are you doing this summer?

So, I know for many summer is no big deal...but for the students and teachers on this site, summer can be a huge deal :)

So, I was just wondering, what is everyone doing for the summer? Or, if you would rather tell us about the best summer you ever had...why not share?

This summer I'll be in West Virginia working as an archery instructor at a camp. Last summer I did absolutely nothing except write, read, and dance...living off of money I had saved for a trip that got cancelled. That was pretty cool, in my opinion, like a sabbatical from life, hehe.

Anyone else?

Uhh... Summer just finished over here about 2 months ago! :bawling: And so summer wont be coming around again 'til December! :p Don't know what I'll be doing then, but I know what I want to be doing then! :p Unless "summer" is refering to a particular time that has nothing to do with the seasons? Even still, I got no idea what I'll be doing! :p

This summer I get to get a job as a caddy. It's a great job for me because it you can come into work whenever you want, which is great because I'll also be taking courses at a nearby college, and I'll need time for my studies. Other than that, I don't think anything major is planned, except for a brief trip out to San Diego with a friend, during which I'll attend the San Diego Comic Con! Hooray!

Nothing... Absolutely nothing. The school holiday is only for 6 weeks here anyway.

I may make a play for the caddy
But when I do, I don't follow through

I'm bound for Italy. Going for a month and a half, a month of which will be learning Italian in Florence. As for the rest - I'm still open to suggestions, but I would love to see the other major cities, and go to Sardinia. Surprisingly I managed to get out easy for this trip. Got the ticket on points, and the school paid for in full (not including lodging) by the Italian culture centre in my city. I guess I'll need to rough it up a bit for the rest though.

Going to Prague and doing a sort of "giro d'Istria" with my friends and after that, if all goes alright and if political/overall situation permits me, my mother is taking me to Israel. Sort of graduation gift. :D And then I'm starting university.

Aww, I'm sorry! I was so excited about my summer that I forgot about the differing seasons in other parts of the world! Silly me...

I am probably going to visit my parents this summer out in Texas for a couple of weeks.

No summer school. Thank God.

Read, read, read....haven't had any time for it in a long time.

Finish unpacking and decorating my new apartment.

Find out what happened to my social life. (and a possible summer romance :) )

Go to Guatemala for two weeks.

Start the school year all over again!!

I cannot wait until the summer comes!!!!!!

I have no idea...there aren't any plans this year (also not for the autumn, which is quite worrying). I have just had a vacation in April, but still - spending the whole summer at home? Ugh.

June 2nd is my last day in school this term, and on June 4th I'm starting my summer-job at an amusementpark in Stockholm called Gröna Lund (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gr%C3%B6na_Lund). I'll be working fulltime all summer, until August 17th I think. But I think it'll be a fun job, standing in the lottery wheels and games. :) For a few days I'll go to visit my family, but I hope they come visit me as well, since I can't leave because of work. And on my free time I am going to read. I won't read anything that can be connected with my studying, so no pedagogy or psychological theories about children, but only books that I want to read. Hopefully it will be a good summer, and maybe I'll have some money left after the rent and bills are paid to go on some sort of vacation in the fall instead.

Yes I am still around, I've been watching the forums more so than posting because I have been very busy with life and school. A lot has happened and changed, maybe in a couple of weeks I will have time to get back to my blog.

Missed you guys.

Maybe I will try to be around a little more often.

Well, down here in Trinidad is always warm!

These holidays I'll be driving around, running errands as usual. Perhaps I'll hop over to Tobago for a week with some friends;
...go to the movies;
...stay at the beach for some days...

My boyfriend and I are taking a motorbiking vacation out to Nevada!
That's the highlight - after that, just a lot of time outdoors and hopefully I can complete 200-hour yoga teaching certification.

JBI - are you going with a program? Crazy cause I'm going to Italy for a month to learn Italian, too! We're stopping in Florence and Venice (and Milan too I think) but the majority of our time will be spent in Rome. I am so excited, I just love Europe and I've always wanted to learn Italian, hopefully now I'll get the chance to really get a solid start!

And it's not really a meet, Shalot, just Riesa and I getting together to see if the magic is just as strong in real life as it is online. :brow: ;) I almost had her talked into coming to ND for a canoe trip down the Missouri but she chose the big city with the big mall and a few lakes and some really great baseball, what are you going to do? :p

 jeez! I won't even mention the three vodkas too many at this point, Idrilski. and I can't help it it I have a soft spot for lakes with big malls! I think we might post some pictures though..right, Idril? at least show off our new tattoos!

Idril

Do the tattoos need to be matching or is it enough togetherness to just get them at the same time...or in the same place? What are you thinking of getting? I'm going for Thor's hammer on the back of my neck. And I would imagine that one or two pictures will be taken during the week. It will just be a question of how many of them will be appropriate to post on a family site. :p

I think I'm going for an indian paintbrush on my clavicle.

There's a small, very small chance that I might spend a week in Paris after I'm done with the exams. I'm not sure if dad agreed yet though. It's a medical conference he's still not decided about, but if he's going me and my mother might just tag along :D:D
As for the rest of summer, well it's just relaxing, reading and writing (hopefully) I might even take a Yoga class, not sure.

this summer i'm working with my dad in the marina as a security guard (he's the security guard, not me, but i'll be there ) back in Miami, i think. I wanted to stay in NC and do volunteer work but i can't now. so i really have no idea what to do. The first option is the most likely to happen i think. Unless my parents decide to go Costa Rica to visit my brother.

Actually, global warming is a misleading title because essentially what they're trying to describe is global climate change. So, average overall temps are higher (which is why they probably thought of calling it 'warming'), but there still are extremes in both directions-- cooler temperatures are still considered climate change-- and this is called "global warming."

Oh give me a break. If you believe that then you are gullible, I'm afraid. First they say it's global warming. Then it turns out that the last ten years have actually cooled, so they have to now sell it as climate change. Please. It's all a farce.

Actually, I found out that there is the possibility that I will be going out of town for a little while. So, unless an incredible job opportunity pops up before then (ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!), I will put off the imperative job search for a little while in June until I come back

Well, I spent my summer attending some lecture. I also had my exposures at a Mental Institution and the Operating Rooms of a couple of hospitals at the Philippines. I spent most of my free time watching One Tree Hill and The O.C. on DVD. I also read a number of books and spnet three days at a known resort in our place...

Okay, the summer is already coming to an end, but my summer holiday only started a week ago...

No, that's a lie. Actually my summer holiday started already in May, but I went to work immediately after the school year ended, so that doesn't really count as a holiday. I spent last three months working in the Headquarters of the Gulf of Finland Coast Guard District, and now I've still got three weeks of holiday before the next term starts. (That's really the best part of studying in university, we have school only 6,5 months in a year :D Of course most of the "free" time is spent working, so it's not really so relaxing...) I just wish there would be some sunshine during these weeks, this summer has been terribly cold and rainy :(
