Hey, I'm new here. I kind of came about this forum by accident. You see, I was doing a research project on The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and I came across this forum. Anyway, I am glad to be here, speaking that this is one of the few places I can talk about books freely. Where I go to school, that isn't really cool and I'm one of the cool kids, so.... Yeah....
I'm not saying that being nerdy isn't cool, actually, I plan on going into a career in theoretical physics, so I am one heck of a nerd.
Anyhow, I just wanted to say hey and tell a little about myself. If there is anything in particular you want to know, feel free to ask. :D

Welcome Trilaque! I understand about the whole not being able to freely talk about books thing... Out of all my friends I have 2 that I can comfortably talk about books with, one more so than the other, so it's good to have a place like this to come to!
Wow, theoretical physics... Sounds like a challenge! What does it involve? Try not to be too techincal, I'm an arty person not a sciency intelligent person... Most of the time... :p
Nerds are awesome ;) Glad to have you here!

Theoretical physics involves the theory of relativy, quantum mechanics, advanced calculus, and string theory. There is much more, of course, but you said not to get technical, lol. I'm going into this field because Stephen Hawkings is my idol. I've admired his work for many years now and, to show off, I read 2 of his books, one of which involved black holes and string theory, and I understood most of it. (This was when I was only 11 years old)!
It is very challenging, if you haven't already noticed by the little I have mentioned, but I believe that I am more than ready for it. I am studying heavily while I am still in high school so that I am not behind when I get into a good college. (Hopefully, MIT).
So, yeah. What kind of arty stuff are you into?

Wow! I'm still amazed by people who can do those things! But even though I don't know as much as you seem to do, I always love hearing about those types of things, black holes and theorys about various things... So if you need to revise for exams feel free to practise on me :p It fascinates me and it'll help you
Well I do drawing and painting mainly, but not much outside of school so far, I'd love to show people on the forum my work but I my photos are too large to post! Also right now I'm doing drama, and then media as well... So just those types of things... I'm more creative than I am logical I guess... Although science and maths etc. does require some aspect of creativity, what I do is pretty much based on creativity I guess... Sorry if I say something wrong or that makes no sense, it's 2:30 am here!
Just so I don't feel bad for talking about me in your thread lol, I'll ask you another question, how did you chose your username?

I'm not an artist, by a long shot, but I do make comics and, from what my friends tell me, if I got them published then I'd be a millionaire, :p
Ummm.... Actually, to be honest, I don't really know. That is a question I've been trying to answer. I assumed it was a name that I found funny for some reason or another because I use the name for one of the characters in my comic. So, yeah,

Theoretical physics--that's really neat!! From the books you were reading when you were eleven, it sounds like you are well on your way to going to MIT!
That's kind of a bummer you have to be so concerned about being cool in your school. You can talk about books and stuff as much as you like here; we're all a bunch of nerds. :p

Yeah, I'm really very proud of myself. I have some theories of my own that I have been working on for about a year, though I haven't gotten around to trying to prove, but about one of them. Mainly because I only know a little calculus.
Lol, I let my nerd side loose every now and again, but if you guys want me to, I'll be nerdy here,
By the way, the names of those books were, The Universe in a Nutshell and A Briefer History of Time. Both were written by Stephen Hawkings.

Well comics are still art. I used to do heaps of stickman comics. Made 20 cents on one once lol. Sounds pretty cool though

Okay well 2 random facts about me:
#1. I have Hypermobile Joint Syndrome. I'm a circus freak lol. Basically I'm double jointed throughout my whole body, although some people don't think double jointedness exists. Nonetheless I'm too flexible.
#2. I was dux of the year in year 8. Technically dux of the whole school, what with the school only having one year of students at the time  I'm in year 11 now... Haven't got dux again yet, but I was smart once upon a time :p

Yeah, good times weren't they? Lol, just kidding. Being smart is as much a pain as it is a blessing, :p

Most definitely. Even though I guess I'm not as smart in the way I was back then (Even though it was only 4 years ago :p) I still have my moments of incredible intelligence, and I've got really good patience, as displayed in my artwork. My most recent studio piece took 8 hours to draw, and it's VERY detailed.
Funny, I never used to have much patience :p In fact I was too impatient to ever give my stickpeople faces. Do your stickpeople in your comics have faces? I swear that's one of the most time consuming things... Drawing all those lines and dots... lol.

Yes, you seem to take a great deal of pride in your accomplishments. What are your theories regarding?
It's not that we necessarily want you to be nerdy, it's that you can be nerdy. :p
So you are interested in math, science, good books, and drawing comics; what else? :)

05-05-2008, 06:45 AM
First off, my comics do have faces, just different ones so I can tell a few of them apart. They look almost alike besides the faces, :p
I do take pride in my accomplishments, though I'm careful not to take too much pride. The theory I have gotten around to attempting to prove regards the universe as a whole. I don't really want to say anything about it, in case I have made a mistake or something in my math or hypothesis. (I'm not fond of being wrong, but I accept it when I am).
I like video games. I can beat any game within a day, given the chance, :p
Sarasvati21

I suppose the matter of how much pride is too much can be rather subjective...I tend to think that more than what it takes to make one hold their head up high as they walk is too much.
Video games are fun...What kinds do you like to play? What systems?
Any game within a day, huh? That's impressive. =P

 I have played every console, minus the Wii (I never liked the Wii much though). I mostly play shooting games or Star Wars games, (just because I'm nerdy like that, :p), like Halo 3, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, and Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy, (all of which I have beaten). I beat them on the normal settings first, then the hardest ones, (I'm good, but not that good,).
I don't think I have ever played Rainbow Islands, of course, I have the memory of a 70 year old woman. If you could describe it I might be able to remember better, >.<

*Oooohhh... beware the SCARY rainbows!* :p
I have a Nintendo 64 neon light thing up on my wall... I have a fondness for older things like that  (That was a fairly relevent comment!... In my mind at least :p)

Ah, yeah, I have played that, it has been a while though. I'll boot up the old system and see what I can do. I never really took a liking to the game, so I never bothered beating it. Which works, I guess, since it was my brother's game.

Ummm.... Yeah. I like to try and figure out how things work, living things, not inanimate objects, (someone has already done that if the parts are put together). I like to see how animals act and to figure out why they do what they do. Actually, you'd be suprised to know that animals are more like people that people are. That goes even more for elephants, which I think are absolutely amazing.
sprinks
05-09-2008, 11:43 PM
Wow I guess I never thought about that much. I think I understand how some animals are like humans, but can you tell me about the elephants? I'm always up to learning something new and it sounds fascinating :)
Trilaque
05-11-2008, 04:41 AM
Yeah, no problem. Elephants have their own groups of friends and their own ways of dealing with life's problems. For example, if an elephant is left caged or in a boring place long enough, it will eventually begin to hide things in order to find them to stop being bored. Also, an elephant will help other animal's young. This example is of a rhino calf stuck in mud and the elephant snuck over and got the rhino out, despite the rhino's mom charging the elephant twice.
They really are amazing animals, but most people never would guess.
Sarasvati21
05-11-2008, 03:26 PM
And elephants, just like people, forget how to act in social situations when they are isolated for extended periods of time.

Tests and stuff have never been a problem for me, the homework is the problem. I just don't like it. Not that I feel too smart for it, I just think it is unnecessary for some classes.
Finals are easy, too, since I have mostly As for my classes. (One B in gym, go figure).
