If happiness could fall like snow
that settles on the ground
I’d gather it into my hands
and scatter it into the air
and watch it sprinkle on your hair
and sparkle in the darkness there.
If happiness could fall like snow
that slowly settles on the ground,
I’d gather it into my arms
just like a newborn babe.
Upon your tongue I’d place a flake
and watch it transubstantiate
to a transparent liquid state
But happiness won't fall like snow
the world just wasn’t made that way
and so another year will go
I’ll not know what to do or say
to bring the happiness to you
that will bring your warm smile to me
there’s little more that I can do
than turn this all to poetry.
